Song Parodies -> "Bush Or Kerry"

Original Song Title:

"Love And Marriage"

Original Performer:

Frank Sinatra

Parody Song Title:

"Bush Or Kerry"

Parody Written by:

Guy DiRito

The Lyrics

Bush or Kerry, Bush or Kerry,
Debates surely made them both look scary,
Then inject Dan Rather,
Makes you wonder what's the matter.

On gay marriage, on gay marriage,
Edwards and Kerry both did miscarriage,
Both were compliment'ry,
Since Mary gives no males no entry.

Lie, lie, lie on the debatin',
So much confusion.
Why, why, why is all I see become,
Ego contusion.

Bush or Kerry, Bush or Kerry,
Debates surely made them both look scary,
One invents the other,
Can't vote for one,
Can't vote for none,
Deciding this is a real mother.

Both these guy's go on debatin',
Masters debater.
Try try try to seperate them,
Then vote for Nader.

Bush or Kerry, Bush or Kerry,
Debates surely made them both look scary,
One invents the other,
Can't vote for one,
Can't vote for none,
Deciding this is a real mother.
Yes sir.

Guy, good parody; if a person can't decide without debates, then I guess they just can't decide

Not bad, Guy... but I prefer this one: http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/franksinatra31.shtml (no, I didn't write it)

I loved the parody and the look of utter confusion at one point on Kerry's face. Like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. :D 5's

Phil - I even commented on that RFOMs parody and didn't even realize how close I'd come to their original. I'd had forgotten completely about this parody being out here. Oh well, I too kind of like the RFOM version better than this one. I knew when I thought of this yesterday that it had a familiar ring to it. Sorry RFOMs - I didn't mean to step on your originality.

Must admit that it's one I've considered redoing (even knowing of the RFOM parody), because it comes to mind nearly every time I hear them say "Bush and Kerry" on the telly :-)

Phil - Did they play the debates in the UK?

Guy - not in full on terrestrial TV: I have seen bits, and read up a lot of the commentary.

Great job! Good stuff there, really liked the Mary Cheney line. We ALL know why she supports BUSH! :)

Brings to mind the old Three Stooges routine: Would you rather have your head chopped off or be burned at the stake? Burned at the stake, because a hot stake is better than a cold chop.

Good parody, but this is an easy choice. I'll even put it the way the first JFK did in 1960, adapted for 2004: If you think that everything that is being done now to protect our security, grow our economy and protect our freedoms is enough, then vote for Bush. But if your eyes are open... No, that's not what Kennedy said. Here are his words, with "Communists" replaced with "terrorists:" "If you feel that we have to move again in the sixties, that the function of the President is to set before the people the unfinished business of our society, as Franklin Roosevelt did in the thirties, the agenda for our people, what we must do as a society to meet our needs in this country and protect our security and help the cause of freedom --as I said at the beginning, the question before us all that faces all Republicans and all Democrats, is: Can freedom in the next generation conquer, or are the terrorists going to be successful? That's the great issue. And if we meet our responsibilities, I think freedom will conquer. If we fail to move ahead, if we fail to develop sufficient military and economic and social strength here in this country, then I think that the tide could begin to run against us, and I don't want historians 10 years from now, to say, these were the years when the tide ran out for the United States. I want them to say, these were the years when the tide came in, these were the years when the United States started to move again. That's the question before the American people, and only you can decide what you want, what you want this country to be, what you want to do with the future. I think we're ready to move. And it is to that great task, if we are successful, that we will address ourselves." And if you agree with that, you should vote for Kerry. If you think you want more of the same will be enough, go for Bush. And go down with him.

Or we could shoot ourselves three times, cover them with band-aids, stick our heads in the sand, and let Al Queda run amok. Tell me, Pacholek, do you want Terrorists back in New York City? If you do, vote Kerry. Then you can write a parody called "Where Have All The Towers Gone?"

well done, guy...I'd hate to be in your shoes, deciding between these two...555

Michael P--you're right it's an easy choice--the guy who voted against getting Hussein out of Kuwait (Kerry) is the guy I'm now voting against.
Michael Pacholek - October 22, 2004 - Report this comment
Doubter: It wasn't some liberal Democrat who ignored all warnings and let New York be attacked. It wasn't some liberal Democrat who let bin Laden get away because of some damn stupid obsession with Saddam Hussein. Besides, the terrorists have left New York City. They've all gone back to New England. (Sorry, Johnny and the rest, but it was an irresistible line, and besdies, New York has never "celebrated" a championship by rioting.)

You paced this very well "On gay marriage, on gay marriage, Edwards and Kerry both did miscarriage" .. .but I strongly disagree with the sentiment as they didn't feel the need to make a constitutional ammendment like Bush does that would basically put discrimination in the constitution. Clearly you are a republican--I myself am not affiliated with either party as I've said elsewhere--but to me any regulation of anyone's rights that doesn't infringe on someone else's is disgusting so I'll give you pacing, but funny and overall It's hard to laugh at stuff like that.
