Song Parodies -> "Christ and Christmas"

Original Song Title:

"Love and Marriage"

Original Performer:

Frank Sinatra

Parody Song Title:

"Christ and Christmas"

Parody Written by:

Lionel Mertens

The Lyrics

Last week California's Governor diverged from his counterpart Gray Davis by renaming the states "Holiday Tree" back to "Christmas Tree", sparking debate. This litmus test of his, in my mind, brought back the true color of the season, red (Acid+Litmus Paper=Red). In this parody I imprecisely rhyme mantra with Santa like the majority of Americans might pronounce it. As Americans I feel we should be more culturally sensitive but still should be unabashed about our culture. My name is Lionel Mertens and I support this parody.
Christ and Christmas, Christ and Christmas
Go together like a salt and litmus
This we love to herald
Who can rejoice without some carols?

Christ and Christmas, Christ and Christmas
It's an institute you can't diminish
Ask Maria Shriver
And she'll say it's Arnold's diverge

Try, try, try to separate them
It's and illusion
Try, try, try and you will only come
To see their fusion

Christ and Christmas, Christ and Christmas
Go together like your kids and wish-lists
This I tell you Santa
Your Ho! Ho! Ho! withstands a mantra
