The Lyrics
The "London Blitz" ran from Sept 1940-May 1941. Sixteen British cities were hit over 8 mos with 32,000 tons of bombs dropped. Millions of homes and businesses were destroyed, but primary war production facilities suffered less than a 5% setback. The LW flew thousands of sorties day and night but the goal of demoralizing Britain's valiant citizens failed (just as Allied bombing did in Germany). Most people in London stayed and even grew "Victory Gardens!!!" Hitler was forced to look East with Operation Barbarossa- the greatest land invasion in history (which ultimately failed too)!!!
Hitler thought Britain was through, Op Sea Lion thus approved
Luftwaffe was now prepared, “Adler Tag”: strike from the air
Messers with Heinkel bombers: ports, air fields as targets
Began in summer time, but ditched bombs were a crime
["Safe Berlin" hit by swine]
Brit bombers flew and they knew where to go to
Goering shamed while Hitler threw a fit,
Changing to “The Blitz”
Attrition goal was a time to gloat, FC wiped
Strat turned tactical... he had switched,
Changing to “The Blitz”
Bombing Brit cities for terror pleasure
A blunder, was strategic error (by the Fuhrer)
Invasion nixed, RAF saved by a change in Luft picks
Sixteen cities were hard-hit,
Enduring “The Blitz”
