The Lyrics

There was a thread on the message board about what were the most difficult songs to parody. I came up with a few (including the one you are about to read). Inspiratrion struck me when I nominated this song, and I very quickly wrote my parody. I am forced to admit that this song was fairly easy for me to write. I hope you enjoy it. The original can be found out the following link. It has a midi version as well as the lyrics.http://diamond.boisestate.edu/gas/pirates/html/p20.html
Away, away! I light me fire!
Avast they stole me pirate ship today.
What's this I see? Some rum for me!
I shall glut myself. Away, away!

Away, away! Ere I'm saved!
I find walking hard to do today!
The rum filled me and its all for me!
No, I can walk meself! Away, away!

With falsehood foul
He tricked me from me ship!
Let anger fly;
Captain Sparrow so decides.
Let them burn
They will pay for all those lies,
And, in return,
To-night Barbossa dies.

Yes, yes! To-night Barbossa dies!

Yes, yes! To-night Barbossa dies!

To-night he dies!

Yes, then The Black Pearl is mine

The treasure likewise.

What's mine is mine!

The Aztec coins?

Take them and ye shall be cursed

Who wrote this plot?

It really seems quite forced.

TO-NIGHT HE DIES!

YES, THEN THE BLACK PEARL IS MINE!

THE TREASURE LIKEWISE!

WHAT'S MINE IS MINE!

THE AZTEC COINS?

TAKE THEM AND YE SHALL BE CURSED!

WHO WROTE THIS PLOT?

IT REALLY SEEMS QUITE FORCED!

AWAY, AWAY!
TO-NIGHT BARBOSA DIES!
AWAY, AWAY! TO-NIGHT, TO-NIGHT!
BARBOSSA DIES! TONIGHT! AWAY!

DKTOS, so no vote, but this looks tough to do because of the last several lines. If you want a REALLY hard challenge, try the song "Locomotive" ( Use Your Illusion 2, track 9 ) from Guns N' Roses ( I've been trying that one for 3 months and have gotten maybe 1/3 finished, after all it is a 9 minute long song with lots of fast singing and about 11 LONG stanzas ). :)

Thanks Red Ant for at least your words. Perhaps you should offer up some of your opinions about difficult songs on the messageboard that has that very thread going. The thread can be found under "Song Parodies," "Songs That Can't be Parodied Well"

Excellent, Kim - I went looking for this after reading your comment on my "Techie's Lot". I've got my sights on one other G&S at the moment: "I am so proud" (as sung in trio by Ko-Ko, Pooh-Bah and Pish-Tush), aiming for a Blair, Howard and Kennedy satire... anyway, keep up the good work. Ooh, argh me hearties. (or something like that, anyway)
