Song Parodies -> "Kristof Robertson: Do Kris Kristofferson!"

Original Song Title:

"I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major-General"

Original Performer:

Gilbert & Sullivan

Parody Song Title:

"Kristof Robertson: Do Kris Kristofferson!"

Parody Written by:

Stuart McArthur

The Lyrics

I think Kris Kristofferson should be outraged at Kristof Robertson's lack of homage to one of the finest song-writers of our times ;-) ............................................. (and please also see my PS at the end)
So when will Kristof Robertson do one by Kris Kristofferson?
That Kristof has not done a Kris Kristofferson one's bothersome
It could be from the soundtrack to that chicky flick "A Star Is Born"
or spotlighting Kristofferson - how far he's come (and far he's gorn)
Now Kris (not Kristof) had addictions, some would say had maladies
while Kristof (but not Kris) is more addicted to mad parodies
For Kristof to be Kris-Kristoffer-son-free there is no excuse
though freedom's just another word, says Kris, for nothing left to lose

yes, freedom's just another word, says Kris, for nothing left to lose
(x three)

If Kris Kristoffer-son learns of this Kristof-snub he might abuse
the stuff he gave up when his options were 'drunkard' or LIFE! to choose
or maybe he will write a song detailing how it did induce
a one-way trip to Tallahassee looking for a bridge to use

or maybe he will write a song detailing how it did induce
a one-way trip to Tallahassee looking for a bridge to use

So when will Kristof Robertson do one by Kris Kristofferson?
By now he should've done one! (though I don't want to be quarrelsome)
Seems Kristof, about Kris Kristofferson, is prejudici-al
It seems he'd rather write about things mostly artifici-al
He could've been researching Kris Kristofferson's mad ancestors
or what's with Kris Kristofferson and Billy Joe McAllister?
or what's with that Rhodes Scholarship, and did it really open doors
for Kris and Rita Coolidge (just before their harrowing divorce)

for Kris and Rita Coolidge (just before their harrowing divorce)
(x three)

And furthermore, despite his standing in the music industry
Kris wasn't offered by Kristof an amiright-based ministry
and is it right that Kristof's done so many Kinks and Beatles songs
while Kristof's Kris-Kristofferson-count's less than Livvy Newton-John's

So is it right that Kristof's done so many Kinks and Beatles songs
while Kristof's Kris-Kristofferson-count's less than Livvy Newton-John's

Oh sure, we know he can't do plumbing - and his sink is fountain-like
and Catherine Zeta-Jones is prob'ly not her hubby's mountin' bike
and Allah, Buddah, Yoda, Odin and Jehovah, Osiris...
should rightly take priority above Kristofferson, so Kris...
it's best that you continue spending Sunday mornings coming down -
To Help You Make It Through The Night, ignore Kristof (that mean, lowdown....)
and don't be too offended that the OS Kristof chose to use
for F.C.U.K. was by Village People and not one of yours

his F.C.U.K. was by Village People and not one of yours
(x three)

If "From the coalmines of Kentucky - and the Californian sun"
don't stir the parodific juices of Kristofer Robertson
there's nothing we can do I s'pose - except hope that the day will come
when Kristof Robertson will do a song by Kris Kristofferson

there's nothing we can do I s'pose except hope that the day will come
when Kristof Robertson will do a......

( please......shoot me )

PS: I'm going to try to put together an Amiright Gilbert And Sullivan musical, called "The Pirates Who Penstanzas" - which anybody can contribute to - I'll post a thread on the MB soon with the rules

As soon as I untie my tongue I'm gonna' laugh my ass off. Great use of Kristorrerson's original songs, as well as Kristof's parodies. This song seems to be a parody gold mine. You certainly mined some 24-carat nuggets here
Kristof Robertson, I think....? - July 12, 2005 - Report this comment
Holy freakin' moly! This is, IMHO, a goddamn masterpiece, and not just because it's about me (although that helped...;-)) I think you have just created a perfect parody, Mr McArthur. It had me LMF'ingAO and also totally bewildered. Words fail me as to how bloody good this is. Bravo, you freakin' genius! 555 ++++++

This is fantastic, Stuart....I'm awestruck by this great tongue twisting, parodic accomplishment...I hereby proclaim you, The Potentate of Poetry and Prose, The Sultan of Spoof, as well as, The Ruler of Rhyme...Sound the trumpets!

Yee f***ing ha! Have you actually tried singing this? If you haven't yet, then I strongly advise getting a splashguard for you monitor and keyboard first. ROFLMAO :-)

Great stuff. Perhaps you could talk Mr. Kristofferson into recording it? :-)

I could have given you fives just for mentioning muh girl Catherine Zeta-Jones, but that would have obscured just how good this parody actually is. (And besides, you referenced her husband, which makes me want to dock you a point, but I didn't.) Perhaps Robertson's Kristofferson parody will be, on Sunday morning, coming down. Until then, maybe this one will help you make it through the night, for the good times: http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/kriskristofferson2.shtml

well, Kristof, your Kristofferson-snubbing has been concerning a lot of us around here for QUITE some time now - somebody had to say it...

thanks Dee, Phil, alvin :-)

thanks Adam - maybe I could get Kristof to record it

thanks Leo, thanks, Mason :-)

Good job, Stu! I would like to do a G&S song for "the show", but not sure if I can pull it off. I never have written a parody on demand, be it the topic or the song.

That confirms my theory --- the cosmic rays coming from the southern half of the celestial sphere indeed induce parody-writing genius ( or is it MADNESS ?) !!

This was freakin' incredible. The MG song has been done to death but you revived it. The connection alone was sheer inspired lunacy, but you out Gilbert-ed Gilbert with the parodical patter! I would have congratulated you earlier, but I couldn't get on . Tthere was a virus goin' 'round . . . Seriously, this is prime stuff. Excellent 555

SOTM- Very good! filled with tongue-twisters. The funny thing is, I see so many parodies of this song and up until now I didn't know the OS. Actually, I did, I just didn't know that it was called "I am a very model...", so all this time I could have voted! And you don't care... Anyway, nice parody, you get 5's.

SOTM: I generally avoid amiright-specific songs for SOTM, but might have to make an exception here. Any song that makes my boss come in and ask "What's so funny?" has to get consideration.

Forgive me for missing this earlier, s2art. This represents the entire holy trinity of parody: A "Major General" parody, an Overlord Kristof tribute, and a Stuart McArthur work. But I gotta ask - did you throw in Bobbie Gentry's "Ode to Billie Joe" just to see if we were paying attention? (It's tremendous either way.) Congrats on your win!

(SOTY 2005) I see I didn't answer your question Stu; I would normally (perhaps incorrectly) pronounce "Osiris" as "oh-SIGH-rus' (second syllable stressed); to get it to scan with the flow of TOS I had to say it as "OSS-sir-rous" (first syllable stressed; it would rhyme with "rhinocerous"). This is still marvelous and of course I voted 555 the day it came out.

Still ultra-impressed. A lovely tribute, a lovely celeb-skewering, and a lovely Major-General parody, all rolled into one big tasty treat. TMGLTM, but I'm always a sucker for the triple rhymes in parodies of this OS, e.g., Star is Born/far he's gorn (groan!) and fountain-like/mountin' bike. Niiiiice.

How I miss you "Pirates Who Pen Stanzas" you were the first Amiright project that I got involved with and did a song not only I didn't know, but a lot of people from Amiright didn't know either, about a Porn Freak getting kicked out of Amiright by Chucky. Good times, good times...

(ABC3) My how times have changed since this parody first popped up...Cat was still a kitty, Dave was just above average. I cringed when you dropped this on our K round, Stu, for obvious reasons, but now it's over and done with and we won't ever see it again in a comp....maybe. :) :) :)
Red Ant - January 21, 2008 - Report this comment

(ABC4-K) I don't know after reading and all the commenting I think my mind is totally criss-crossed and catty-wumpus. I don't know Cris from Kris, from Chris from Christine (and that's my wife's name) from crash to crack at this point. All I know is that this was well thought out and extremely well done. You are hereby promoted from Major General (2 Stars) to Supreme Allied Commander (5 Stars) for this number. And a good conduct medal to add to your heavily medaled chest. And add a Purple Heart for the pain and wounds you must have sustained writing this gem.

(ABC) Kowabunga! I've already read this innumerable times, but it still gets a chuckle out of me every time I read it—all the research and everything that went into it, I think we can safely say this is the king of all tribute parodies. (by the way, has Kris ever followed through?)
