The Lyrics

I've got to hand it to this administration. They can coin a simplistic catch phrase, get it to all their spokespeople, and beat it to death. In the current oil spill crisis, how many times and from how many people have we heard the new mantra about the government being on the problem "since Day One"? Maybe this skill derives from taking a complex issue, reducing it to a bumper sticker slogan, and chanting it angrily in the streets...lol. Anyway, I've wanted to write this parody "since Day One". Yes, there is a lot of repetition as in the original...or as in bullhorn street chanting. ;D

(Slowly and free form)
Day One! On since Day One!
Since Day One on the big oil spill.
Day One! On since Day One!
Is it truth or another shill?

(In rhythm with a calypso beat)
B.P. rig in the Gulf go boom.
Gov-ment been on it since Day One!
Cause much environmental gloom.
Gov-ment been on it since Day One!

Ask Homeland Sec boss Jan Napolitano -
Gov-ment been on it since Day One!
Catch Mr. Salazar talking on the news show -
Gov-ment been on it since Day One.

Re-peat the phrase like nurs-ry rhymes:
Gov-ment been on it since Day One!
We've heard them say it ninety times:
Gov-ment been on it since Day One!

The only thing that O. will say,
Gov-ment been on it since Day One!
Is that he will make B.P. pay!
Gov-ment been on it since Day One!

Dump compounds to make oil dissolve.
Gov-ment been on it since Day One!
And watch the White House tale evolve.
Gov-ment been ot it since Day One!

Gibbs - didn't speak 'til Day Three.
Gov-ment been on it since Day One!
That - doesn't show urgency.
Gov-ment been on it since Day One!

And 'though the gov puts on a tough demeanor,
Gov-ment been on it since Day One!
This seems a bit like Hurricane "Katriner".
Gov-ment been on it since Day One!

(Slowly, in free form)
Day One! On since day One!
Since Day One on the big oil spill.
Day One! On since Day One!
Perfect way to go ban the drill!

Plus...it permits the media and the government to ignore the floods in Tennessee. ;D

Well, Katrina hit when Bush was president so you can't blame that on the Democrats.

Great Job. You had us at Day One. You--- had---us---at---Day---One. ( The real catch line in Jerry Maguire).

Yep, they're slippery as a banana peel! Ironic to substitute "Gov-mint" for "Daylight" ... LoL ... and you used all 4 syllables of the echo "Da-a-ay-o" effectively. But Harry (B or R)won't like any of this. 555

Thanks all. They're trying to stop the oily scum with a "dome". Too bad it doesn't work in Washington! ;D
