Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Hollow Vessel Lied"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Horst Wessel was an early National Socialist rabble rouser. Before he was shot to death by a communist in a fight over a prostitute, Horst took a popular German sailor song and turned it into a rousing stormtrooper march. The "Horst Wessel Lied" (rhymes with "greed") is banned in much of Europe. It is difficult to find a good modern recording, I do recall hearing it in a video game called "Wolfenstein". There are some 1930's vintage recordings on youtube. My last effort got me called "fascist" and "nazi". So, I figured I borrow one of their tunes.
Bow down! Bow down! I am the great Obama
By God ordained to rule o'er lesser men
My wisdom shines, my unsurpassed sense of drama
Before my throne, soon every knee must bend

Those who still work, the ones who are successful
I'll bind with chains, and I shall make them pay
They'll have no choice, but lives regimented and stressful
This is my prayer: "G-d damn the U.S.A.!"

Let "Hope and Change" be ever more the fashion
The world is mine, its cares mine to address
Then all in need shall feel my love and my compassion
Enforced by guns of Waffen-IRS

And come this fall, should I permit elections
Republicans, be not too quick to gloat
Ten million Mexicans will cancel your selection
Empowered by me to override your vote
" Unsurpassed" is pronounced as four syllables. This keyboard doesn't have accent capability.

For once, I'm actually cringing! As a historian and musician, I know Die Fahne Hoch and it is TERRIFYING! I don't know if I personally would have used this tune and all its implications, but I get the satiric point like the blast of an 88mm anti-tank gun. As I have received more vitriol and anonymous one-bombs than anyone here, I give you credit for making an unmistakable statement in no uncertain terms. In the quote attributed to Tom Robbins, "When freedom is outlawed, only outlaws will be free." ;D

Rabid, yes. But can anyone deny the facts of this song? I like your analogy to an 88 Flak cannon. I am a student of the Third Reich and have access to a lot of literature and artifacts. Not that I think Obama is preparing a Holocaust. But just ask Randy Weaver or a surviving Branch Davidian (I have) what can happen in the "land of the free" to someone whose life style runs afoul of the liberal agenda.

I'm unfamiliar with the OS, but you wrote a very factual parody!
