The Lyrics

The two "joys" of January: (1) Your New Year's Eve hangover, and (2) the arrival in the mail of the dreaded US Income Tax forms.

Never show us schnooks any pity no more
Pols keep us repressed; smite our living; we're poor
I can hardly wait for my rebate; this ugly beast, I'm mourning
Savings: de-plete; last buck, IRS, they tore

More?

Taxes due-- doggone it
1040: stomped upon it
Then tore it all to shreds... "Oh, --
-- What a mess I ... have made!"

Congress is in clover
"Your paycheck: hand it over...”
Makes me the broke-est fellow
In the briefcase brigade

Need the revenue...
More revenue...
Thousands, IRS will snatch up
Then root 'round in your
Empty pocket for more

So, take your stuff and pawn it
Before their mitts get on it
Think of the dough they're making
From this beastly charade!

Another financial frolic first formed from FG's fine fiddlin'. ... Serves her right fer hangin' around with TT! ;)

And they won't rest until the government is the ONLY business and industry left. BTW, Irving Berlin had a songwriting brother named Wesley. Surely you've heard of...Wes Berlin! ;D

I can't top FG -- actually, it's my turn to be on the bottom tonight ;) so, echo her brilliant-as-ever replies.

Old Man Ribber: Surely you've heard of the signature pasta dish run by that famous German free-verse poet, "Berlinghetti"?

Oh the humanities! No footnote(s)?!!! Great stuff and not-at-all taxing to sing along to... but with TT involved, though, kept expecting 'keister parade' to have been slyly slipped in there somewhere!

TJC: LOL at the gitgo! ... think we pretty much took care of the footnotes in the companion post, same day, but if you insist, will try to get CG to add some ... (wink). ... and "keister parade" is a parody unto itself! (Miss America pageant?) ... unless you meant how we all parade our keisters so Congress can stick it to us ;) Thanks for v/c!

As I've mentioned before, IRS are a bunch of crooks. One of my neighbors owed thousands of dollars a few years back on his/her income tax due to the fact that they didn't either claim or unclaim their independents. That's all I remember. Great job and 5's.
