The Lyrics

If only the protagonist of this song had been Fred Astaire, then this most unfortunate event would not have happened!

I guess I'll have to change my pants.
I heard them rip when I assumed this awkward stance.
I should have seen this moment coming.
My clothes were way too tight to dance.
I heard the people laugh and shout.
My derriere had torn through there and it was out.
With grace I tried to make my dance partner swoon,
But I shot the room a full moon.
My tailor's gonna hear from me!
At least I wear B. - V.D.*

* = A once famous brand of men's underwear.

Fooled me, I thought this was going to be about something else. If so, it would have been a fitting tribute to the late Malcolm Higgins. Instead, it wasn't a "fitting" anything. Of course, anybody who knows Ray Stevens' "Guitarzan" knows about BVDs. One thing, though, OMR: As a conservative, you should think twice before using the word "stance"! Ever since the Larry Craig story, that would be "awkward."

Short, but still got to the bottom of the subject...funny title and parody.

In case anyone's concerned that I might have been slamming Malcolm's memory, here's the rather potent (in several ways) parody that explains my comment: http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/gordonlightfoot17.shtml

I remember TOS (as sung by Rudy Vallee) and BVDs (Tom Lehrer's cowboy wore lead ones in his Wild West). Your parody cracked me up! 5s
