The Lyrics

Kansas City is home to the Heartland Men's Chorus, a musical ensemble who perform at the historic Folly Theater and at other locations in the metro area. The HMC is part of a nation-wide network of men's choruses, who have an agenda that goes beyond simple entertainment. Sometimes, in my opinion, the promotion of that agenda can get a little heavy handed. Most of the audience truly does not care what these fellows do in their private lives. But letting us know is part of what they are all about. So, I figured they might as well do it in song. My parody is based on an old 78 rpm recording I found on youtube. It is a bit longer that some of the versions you may find by other artists.
We're a group of young men
And we've gathered again
To perform in the musical hall
With a vast repertoire
Everyone is a star
We're the best at our craft, one and all
With our sweet, lilting voices
Some popular songs
You are sure to respond with a smile
And then later that night
We will lead with delight
Lives of an alternate style

We're men with manly voices
We are men who sing in choirs
Who are keen to let you know of
All our sexual desires
We're glad you came to see us
For a concert or a play
So we'd get the chance to tell you
That the lot of us are gay

For the music's just part
Or our troubadours' art
Our tuxedos make quite a display
We're perfection in dress
And in public, caress
We're not ashamed to say
Let our most private lives
Be now open to all
We reveal without care or regret
And while you are still here
Please accept us, we're queer
We hope that you won't forget

We're talented musicians
And we practice for each show
There are other things we practice
That we want you all to know
Our audience is happy
And that truly makes our day
Please tell all your friends and neighbors
And remind them that we're gay

I don't see why people need to make their private lifestyles public, although show biz in general is rife with alternative lifestyles (trust me!). Still, they're free to sing, and you're free to parody. Surprised that there were no comments here. Thanks for the link. 555
