The Lyrics

I've done a lot of driving and I say to people in a big-ass hurry, "Leave the house five minutes sooner!" It's not as if they had to make all their phone calls before leaving.
I keep a close watch on my car's rear view
I see all of the dangerous things you do
I see you speed and weave without a clue
Cause you're a pain, I block the lane

I find it easy to make you upset
I hear you rev the engine of your 'Vette
You're so pissed off you haven't passed me yet
Cause you're a pain, I block the lane

I see those headlights flickering behind
I see you act like you have lost your mind
From way up here I hear the gears you grind
Cause you're a pain, I block the lane

You want to race to every traffic light
You're so convinced you'll save time on your flight
I think that something in your head's not right
Cause you're a pain, I block the lane

You got your chance to roar on past my side
You flip me off as if it hurts my pride
And now you're stuck behind a double-wide
You're so insane, I block the lane

Oh, this is a perfect song for my commute to work. Reminds me of drving down the 880 at rush hour. Good job.

Rick this was great. I hate drivers who are in a hurry! Especially when they blow their horns at people who don't floor it pulling away from a red light. I usually shout at them "Take a valium!" 5-5-5.

Thanks everyone. I know none of us on THIS site ever drive like THAT. (We're too busy writing parodies!)

It's those people who start swerving side to side behind you that piss me off, like they've got ants in their pants. I just LOVE to slow down parallel to some truck and bust 'em up. If I suddenly disappear, you'll know that someone has gone ballistic and shot me somewhere on the freeway near Oakland.

I just knew you ba**ards were doing it on purpose. Leave five minutes early my ass. Stay out of the passing lane!!! Unless you're passing!!!! Sorry; just reliving my commuting days; I could walk to work now if I wanted to. Funny song.

Rick, I left my commuting days behind me in LA - I live ten minutes from work in Seattle - but as you know since you've visit ed here - commuting is insane wherever you are. By the way, please email me. I need your new e-address. Thanks bro - I gave you I-5's (Interstate 5's) for a very funny parody.

A-HAH -- so YOU'RE the one. (I'm the guy behind you, and I NEVER would have guessed that YE OF LITTLE PATIENCE isn't ALSO in a rush on the ROAD!) Boy, are YOU in trouble . . . next time you try to rush me into swinging a jumper!! (sorry, folks, inside joke) Hahaha.

I think I'll do this as a parody of "I Call Your Name" by the Mamas and Papas, about someone who blocks the lane even if you're not tailgating or anything. In other words, a typical San Antonio driver. I love it here, overall the people get a B+ as friendliness goes, but their driving gets an F. -- MM

Excellent. I forwarded this to the person who inspired Don't Drive So Close to Me, she'll get a kick out of it. We've all been there, hopefully in the front car =)
