The Lyrics

I don't have a big dog in this fight. I'm not one of these who is going to say that Harry Reid is a Nazi or a thug or has a criminal vested interest, but I do think he went beyond the pale when he called Bundy and his supporters terrorists; especially when he won't use that same term to describe Major Hassan Nidal -- who killed 13 Americans while yelling "Allahu Akbar." Hence, the line -- They'll say he's like Qadhafi while stroking ol' Dzhokar (Tsarnaev, one of the Boston bombers)
I hear those baggers comin'
They're stormin' round the bend
I ain't seen a tortoise, since
I don't know when
I'm stuck on Bundy's rangeland
This thing keeps dragging on
Now I hear those baggers chantin'
Bout some damned Speech Zone

When I was just a baby
My momma told me, Ted
Always be a good boy
Don't ever work for Feds
But I shot a bull near Vegas
Just to watch it die
When I hear it's wheezy lowing
I hang my head and cry

They'll say that Clive's done treason
For fighting Nancy's czars
They'll say he's like Qadhafi
While stroking 'ol Dzhokar
They'll say he's got it comin',
He didn't pay his fees
But we treat him like he's Putin
And that's what bothers me

Well, when they free me from this detail
If allowed to speak my mind
I'd say we went a bit too far
And overstepped the line
When slamming Bundy's sister*
That's what I'd want to say
And I'd let my wholesome fess-up
Chase those moos away
*Margaret Houston, a slight 57-year-old woman, who was thrown to the ground so hard it tore two large holes in her jeans, right at the spot that covers her knees. It's all on tape, too

I submitted this about mid-day yesterday, before I became aware of the unbelievably boneheaded comments Cliven Bundy had made about the current situation regarding race relations in America. If I had known that somebody's comments might create a dark cloud over this parody, I wouldn't have submitted it

Hey CML- 555! I just did a Bundy parody for Monday and will probably get bombed too (for WN OTRA OS or Bundy's views)! AOL states that Bundy blames MLK Jr. for his racist views... or something like that! Guy was a hero for standing up to the Feds over his ranch land... but now has ruined everything with his Black slavery comments and affirmation of his warped beliefs. REPs are backing away...

The parody was really good, but make no mistake: Even before we knew he was a racist schmuck, he was wrong. All those conservatives who call people on government assistance "moochers," none of them mooch like this bum. If he wants to take a stand against the feds, when he's the one breaking the law, and he wants to take up arms against the federal government -- which, by the way, is treason -- he first needs to ask how that worked out for David Koresh.

In the second verse you refer to Mr. Bundy as Ted, shouldn't that be Clive, or Cliven? Ted Bundy was the serial killer.

What an interesting reading of my song, Curious. Actually,Ted is the name of the notional BLM agent who shot one of Bundy's bulls and is now feeling pangs of guilt, which is causing his "Bundy Rangeland Blues" ..... The entire second stanza came to me in an instant, because there was a bull that was shot by a person working for the Federal Government in the State of Nevada in this incident (I shot a man in Reno ...). So all I needed was a word that rhymed with Feds and the first six lines wrote themselves ...... One thing I meant to include in my parody (but forgot at the last moment) was an introductory, "Hello, I'm outta cash" which, of course, is a spoof on "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash."

Looks like the final tally is seven onesies and seven fivesies. In other words, a seven and seven -- I'll drink to that!
