The Lyrics

Last Friday, French President Francois Hollande decided to intervene on Mali's behalf to stop Islamic guerillas from taking the capital. He sent ground and air support which was reinforced by Saturday night and is working to take back unstable nations from African Al-Qaida supported guerillas and extremists that previously held 2/3rds of Mali. But even with British backing, Hollande should not have authorized a daring raid in Somalia to rescue agent Denis Allex who had been held over 3 years at Bulomarer by Al-Shabab, an Islamic group that operate SW of Mogadishu. The commando raid was expected and repelled. Al-Shabab killed Allex and one French soldier while taking another hostage. The French killed 17 of their group before aborting the mission. Now, as a result, the 7 French hostages still in Mali along with the captured French soldier are to be executed within days. Some claim Allex is still alive but will be killed within 48 hrs of the raid. French citizens in France have complained of the old colonial tactics and the risk Hollande has placed on the captured in Africa. He is also being condemned for endangering the lives of all Europeans in Africa...
The French are in Africa
In Mali and Somalia
One, to stop Islamic war
Other, a French hostage score

Mali intervention asked
Somalia, a raid was tasked
Former, troop and aircraft aid
Latter, military crusade

Agent Denis Allex was brave
Sadly, the raid was all in vain

Failed rescue
Al-Shabab knew
Failed rescue
One taken too

At Bulomarer was held
Night raid was risky and it failed
One soldier killed, one taken
Group Al-Shabab was not shaken

Now, seven in Mali fear
Retaliation too severe
Extremists make good on their threats
All seven may face cruel deaths

Failed rescue
Al-Shabab knew
Failed rescue
One taken too

Hollande’s situation grave
Mali defended, lives exchanged

Failed rescue
Nothing new
Failed rescue
Those held- screwed

French citizens are enraged
Colonial tactics remain unchanged…

Yes, it certainly seemed ill-advised, with tragic results. Guess Hollande thought he was on a roll with the success of the Mali operation. Dkos so I'll abstain from voting. Looks like you've got plenty of support for your point of view anyway. I doubt if the one-bomber is genuine - looks like we've got a spammer doing the rounds today.
