Parody Song Title:

"America The Beautiful"

Parody Written by:

A Room Full Of Donkeys

The Lyrics

Oh beautiful
For spacious skies
That oil men foul with stains
For Arctic wildlife majesty
That oil men's greed disdains
America, America
Bush spread disgrace on thee
It's time we should
Be Robin Hoods
And steal back liberty

Oh separation
Church-from-State
Which serves our nation well
Beware all fundamentalists
Who serve their God-Of-Hell
America, America
Bible-thumping reject
Let atheist and faithful live
Together with respect

Oh caring-for
The poor and weak
That makes our nation great
Rich neo-cons will not pay tax
To help the poor they hate
America, America
Let thy heart not be cold
Remember life is more than strife
And more than soulless gold

Oh peace-makers
Who seek to cure
The root-cause of terror
Beware the strident rhetoric
Of greedy war-mongers
America, America
Find hate's true origin
Then with resolve that problem solve
And let peace reign again

Oh Bill of Rights
We hold so dear
For which so many died
Now Dubya's fascist thought-police
Commit liberticide
America, America
Don't let Bush ruin thee
Rise up and pray
Election Day
Shall free us all from he

Good message, though the language was a bit inflammatory: saying that someone serves a "God of Hell" hardly shows the interfaith respect that the lyrics call for. (Keep in mind that I'm non-Christian myself...)

Pacing and rhymes are forced in some places: it spoils the effect to rhyme "terror" with "war-mongers", or use bad grammar like "from he".

Considering everything I said above...I'd give this parody 4's across the board.

I agree with Ingeborg--well-done, but the language is a bit inflammatory in places. Otherwise a great job!

I am a Christian, but can't help but have sympathy for terms like 'God of Hell' because people like ol' Fred Phelps claim they serve God but seem to stand for the opposite of Godly values... As Jesus himself criticised the Pharisees "You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, then you make him twice a son of Hell as you are!" I liked the song although I don't think that you could write this if America were as bad as you say... a 544 from me :)

Why all the anti-Bush parodies? Still, it was well paced, though not very funny. 5-2-3.

This must have taken some courage to write.

"Courage"? How much "courage" does it take to write an ant-Bush, anti-Bible, anti-Christian song when you have the backing of 95% of the news media, 90% of American colleges and universities, 80% of Europe and all of Canada? I always understood it is more courageous to go AGAINST the "flow". As for the content, see my opening comments of my latest parody(of A Spoonful of Sugar)

I'm sorry, but Bush won the election already. Here's your 523; you'll regret (not only for bad grammar in some spots, but for the election results).

Get the real song your site sucks
The Gay Voice - October 29, 2007 - Report this comment
Hey Jose. . .this site is a PARODY site. . .do you know what that is? Hmmm..a constitutionally protected right guaranteed by the first amendment allows anyone to parody songs. . .Though I won't speak of the parody itself as I have not read it, I will say that your "Get the Real Song" comment, you can take it and shove it up where the sun don't shine, AmIRight is a wonderful site where everyone has fun and write parodies representing their view points, while we may disagree with each other, we all accept parody as a fun form of music that most original artists find flattering, not insulting, what's insulting is when some guy who has nothing better to do drops in, bombs a parody because it's a parody whether or not it's any good, and thinks it's justified because it's not an OS. . .this is Garageband, if you don't like parodies, stay off the site-loser.
The Gay Voice - October 29, 2007 - Report this comment
*Correction* . . .This is *not* Garageband was what I meant to say, as Garageband tends to act like that towards parodies.
