The Lyrics
You might look at this and say "This is not a song, it is a poem!" In fact, Mari and I recorded this many years ago with drums, keyboards and backup vocals much in the way of today's music. Although she performed it in French, it has always been a "song" in our archives. And as such, ripe for parody.
Twas boxing and the Sly Stallone
Did fare so nimble in the ring
All flimsy was the boring tome
But the more films did bring
Beware the JabbinRock, film buffs
The voice that drawls so haltingly
Beware Apollo Creed, and guff
Of furious Mr. T
He took his leather glove on hand
Long time he knew he'd face defeat
So trained he in the butcher's fridge
And stood and beat the meat
But audience he understood
The JabbinRock, with script so lame
Came shuffling out of Hollywood
And sequeled as it came
II! III! IV! V! And still alive
That beefy face got beat to snot
He made a ton from movie "fun"
And kept him in the spot

Damn you, Rick - I've just written the first four verses to precisely this... and it's so similar it's actually quite disconcerting. That'll teach me not to finish stuff, and to put it on the back-burner while I come up with ideas. I've just counted, and there's six lines which are identical. Is this a case of great minds thinking alike, do you think?
I thought about waiting another day to put this on, and I thought, one of these smart guys is gonna beat me to it if I don't hurry. I know what you mean, it's happened to me. I tried keeping the feel of the original, which I'm sure you did also. So go for "The Walrus and the Carpenter".

Rick - you mean write a "The Despot and the President" parable about hiding away in little holes? Still, nobody's going to beat me to my little bit of Russian history to a Bad Company tune... you ought to be able to guess that one :-)
