The Lyrics

Part of my "Strawberry Ice Cream Supplemental" self-challenge. If you somehow haven't heard the story of Cinderella...that's a very interesting backstory you've got and I'd love to hear about it.
My stepmother's an asshole, makes me scrub the floors of her busted château
It's not like she can simply not afford
Any maids trained for this life, she's also not bein' super tight
She just loves to treat me like the dirty floor
The abuse won't stop, it's not physical at all
It's not much better that she's so harsh and cold

But that last night, that was diff'rent, hard to believe that I lived it
Magic tends to do that, I think you will find
Fancy party for the prince, it sounded more fun than the kitchen
A good thing my fairy godmother came by
She sure dolled me up, big dress, glass shoes and all
Just have one, the other? Left it at the ball

I got so caught up in the footwork that I never had time to learn
Can't dance around when one has to clean and cook
My step-mom tricked me hard, said I could come, retracted hard
'Cause I don't have a dress, no time to sew one good
She did not count on all my rodent friends at all
Yeah, my only friends are the mice, would make one bawl

As I did when my step-sisters became horrible dress-rippers
Should've seen the look in my step-mother's eyes
Wasn't anger or indiff'rence, just a smile that looked so little
But meant ev'rything because her heart is vile
I really hope she did not see me at all
When I entered, danced or ran straight from the ball

One day, that night will feel distant, just a memory to visit
Need to find a spot for the spare shoe to hide
Those were my thoughts 'til that knockin' on the door, my heart was flip-floppin'
I danced with the prince? Sent men to find
That girl to marry? Once this door's unlocked
I'll prove that's my shoe, I left it at the ball

At the ball

It's been approximately ten thousand years since I've watched the Disney take on ol' Cinders, so I watched some clips to refresh my memories and I had completely forgotten that they showed her with the other slipper after running away from the ball. The mice even repeatedly pointed it out to her. For years I'd thought it was a last-second ass-pull but nope! Foreshadowing! Screw you, evil step-mom!
