The Lyrics

On Monday, Robert Arndt posted "I'll Be Cloned For Christmas" in which he uses the line "Christmas Eve will find us/In a duplication scheme/By the dozen--Jesus!/All is not what it seems". I got to thinking, "If the Savior were born today, would it be in a barn, or in a more up to date location?" Operating on the premise that our God, unlike another well-known deity, has a sense of humor, I submit the following:
Away in a test tube, a lab microscope
Examines the stem cells, will bring the world hope
No cradle of timber where this comes to pass
The little Lord Jesus asleep in the glass

Fluorescents are glowing, the centrifuge shakes
Be careful with Jesus for all of our sakes
The laws of genetics we seek to apply
Welcome, dear Savior, decanting is nigh.

Imagine, Lord Jesus, were You born today
You'd make your appearance in a different way
The manger is empty, this Christmas, instead
A warm incubator's where You lay your head

I pray that this novel "second coming" or the prophesied one occurs before the 12th Imam returns. 555!

Interesting concept. I guess they could bring in the already cloned sheep for a nice manger scene.

Imagine the difficulty these days of finding wise men and virgins.. Barry, could that be another project the Iranian centrifuges are working on?

This had me visualizing the updated manger scene: A gathering of white-coated lab technicians (including three from the Orient) gazing in awe at the test tube while dozens of identical sheep (all named Dolly) mill about! I hope for your sake and mine that the Creator does indeed have a sense of humor!

Perhaps one day they'll make a new little Lord Jesus in a lab in Clones, County Monaghan.

Meriadoc - I envisioned Bunsen Honeydew & Beaker
