Wow, that's a lot of Harry Potter parodies you're doing
Hey, Kim, do you read the original lyrics as you write your parodies, or are just listening to a recording? I know this song quite well, and it isn't matching the beats very well. I may sound like a jerk here, but I make it a habit to steer newbies in the right direction. Keep writing! :)
Hi Agrimorfee. If you must know, I normally look at lyrics derived from the net, and then try to listen to midi files also from the net. In the case of this song however, I only had the lyrics to go by. I didn't even know for sure if the first paragraph was sung or not because it has been a terribly long time since I've seen "Oliver."
Barry Trotter…that is an interesting name, well hello to you just the same. I am halfway through my second fanfic involving Rowling's wonderful characters. I estimate that the word documents that I've written so far come to around 300k. After that, the few songs I have written here do not amount to very much in terms of volume. Also, I suppose that would explain why I'd have plenty of material to work with when it comes to Harry Potter.
I was going to suggest the same thing as Ag...the content and idea for the song are good but the pacing really hurts it in some places. I enjoyed reading it, just had trouble when trying to match it to the OS.
Well Jeff, aside from getting rid of the first paragraph and rewriting the bubblegum wrapper line I don't see how too really improve it. Most of the song I felt was pretty much intact. In fact I felt that I hadn't changed enough of it, and that people would be complaining about that. About the only thing I would consider at this point would be asking the webmaster to delete this song rather than rework it.
Kim, I didn't mean to sound too harsh, just suggesting to stick closer to the number of syllables in each line. One example: "History or transfiguration" -- 9 syllables. The original line, "Hot Sausage and mustard" -- 7 syllables. If you're trying to sing along with the original, it's hard to fit the extra two syllables in there. Just a suggestion for future work...I've enjoyed reading your recent parodies here, I like Potter, and your songs have a lot of content. And if you think I'm off here, you're welcome to ignore me (you won't be the first, and I won't take it too hard =)
Honestly Jeff, your words were not that harsh and neither were Agrimorfee's. I just look at this situation as simply cutting my losses. At the moment I have too many things on my plate to take any sort of action. I am glad you like what I have done in regards to Harry Potter in general, and I thank you once again for all of your kind words.
