The Lyrics

I have no idea what brought this song to mind, but there it was- begging for another parody. When I was little, I discovered my dad harbored an intense dislike for broccoli. This was enough to convince me that it must be horrible, and I had no intention of liking it either. I've since changed my mind, but in honor of those days... (with a grateful nod to Ogden Nash)
Oooohhh….
Hot Diggity Dog Ziggity, store’s out of broccoli
“Oh how loccoli”
I say, mockily
Hot Diggity Dog Ziggity, there’s no more broccoli
Mom can’t fix it tonight!

Never thought we would find ourselves victorious
How we holler and fuss
When Mom tries to feed us
Any freshly-steamed vegetable cruciferous-
Like she does every night!

Oooohhh….
Hot Diggity Dog Ziggity, store’s out of broccoli
“Oh how loccoli”
I say, mockily
Hot Diggity Dog Ziggity, there’s no more broccoli
Mom can’t fix it tonight!

All my friends get great dinners their moms know will please
Crunchy fish sticks and peas
Macaroni and cheese
Breaded corn dogs or pizza, reheated with ease
And they turned out alright!

Soooooo…
Hot Diggity Dog Ziggity, store’s out of broccoli
“Oh how loccoli”
I say, mockily
Hot Diggity Dog Ziggity, there’s no more broccoli
Mom can’t fix it tonight!

Maybe someday I’ll have my own grocery store
I won’t sell on the floor
Anything I abhor
Finicky customers will shop there by the score
There won’t be a veggie in sight!

Ooooohhhh….
Hot Diggity Dog Ziggity, store’s out of broccoli
“Oh how loccoli”
I say, mockily
Hot Diggity Dog Ziggity, there’s no more broccoli
Mom can’t fix it tonight!

Hot Diggity Dog Ziggity, when there’s no broccoli,
How my future will shine…
Hot Diggity Dog Ziggity, only milk chocoli,
Dinners will be divine!
Dad and I did have quite a "round and round" over brussels sprouts when I was four, but that's a subject for a different song. :)

Good one - I think it would hard to find any young kids that actually like their veggies

Very cute title, Sir! This would make a great 'Retro' commercial for some brand of hot dogs . . . Hot Dog!

From context, "loccoli" (matching "broccoli") = "luckily", esp. as "mockily" is used in the succeeding line. This is part of that "delicious" (pun intended) joy of word-mangling, enabled by our Poetic Licenses. ;)
