Parody Song Title:

"Odd-Ball Religion Rides Again"

Parody Written by:

Susanna Viljanen

The Lyrics

This is my sequel on Phil's hilarious Odd-Ball Religion song. Here are some more faiths not yet dealt with. Does anyone come up with any other?
Gimme that odd-ball religion
Gimme that odd-ball religion
Gimme that odd-ball religion
Seems kind o' strange to me

Phil, he listed lots of faiths
some of them just sucker baits
some are clearly out of dates
and they seem so strange to me

(chorus)

Now the Hindus with the Shiva
who destruction will deliver
he just kinda makes me shiver
Hindus seem bit strange to me

(chorus)

Buddha, he is much more tamer
but I feel he's kinda lamer
and I am no karma gamer
so it's kinda strange to me

(chorus)

How 'bout Wicca and bespelling
against common sense it's yelling
everyone just keeps it yelling
that it's kinda strange to me

(chorus)

Or the Druids with mistletoes
kinda weirdo that stuff goes
any historian knows
it is kinda strange to me

(chorus)

Teachings of the Zarathustra
really are no way blockbuster
they need rag and they need duster
and they are bit strange to me

(chorus)

Chinese question: what is Tao?
Has it something do with Mao?
Tachings of the master Lao?
Seems kind o' strange to me

(chorus)

And what about the gods of Asgård?
with the fallen heroes hoard
I would with them soon get bored
Seems kind strange to me

(chorus)

Confucians get me confused
with the ideas they used
I must say I am not amused
it is kind o'strange to me

(chorus)

Zeus's gang they may be woollies
but they're are nothing more than bullies
mortals they do treat like coolies
and they're kinda strange to me

(chorus)

Finally, the great Athe
does not shave and does not bathe
what could his preservance weigh?
Seems kind o'strange to me?

Final Chorus:

So now, we've done some a-bridgin'
of the faiths and some smidging
All that odd-ball religion
Seems kind o' strange to me

I previously appealed to people to have a sense of humor about their personal faith and their god(s)/goddess(es), so I shall practice what I preached and award this parody a vote of 5-5-5.

In a gallup in Australia? England? Somewhere else? last year a lot of people listed "Jedi" as their religon, so... here goes:

What about that Jedi order
Psychos on the line of border
Yoda and his speech disorder
Seems kinda strange to me

Nice complement to "Squidentology."

I may be Heathen, but I still know parody talent when I see it...5's all round. (Asgård...*in Swedish* yet...would have tempted me to give you a six somewhere if I could.)

Is this a parody of a parody?

ROFL! It's not so much a parody of a parody, as a sequel... Lovely, Susanna :-)

Thanks, Phil! I( must admit I wasn't quite sure how'd you react... I thougt writing about The Great Chthulhu as well, but getting it rhyming was a bit too difficult. Does anyone come up with yet other faiths? Hare Krishna, anyone?
Phil Alexander - October 05, 2004 - Report this comment
Someone who'd worship Cthulu
I'd call a bit of a fooloo
Unlike Star Trek's Mr Sulu
Seems kind of strange to me

...OK, a bit of a cop-out on the rhyming front...

Hare Krishna, Krishna Hare
Repeated ad nauseam, is scary
But was Krishna REALLY hairy?
Seems kind of strange to me

Nowadays to worship Mithra
Would surprise your kin and kith-ra
I guess they'd just take the pith-ra
Seems kind of strange to me

PS... k1chyd: shouldn't your third line be:
Yoda speech had his disorder ;-)

Krishna is usually depicted in Hindu devotional art as having a full head of lovely dark hair. But that's neither here nor hair.

Guess so I do.

Just an idea here, but maybe the two of you (Phil and Susanna) should team up for the ultimate all odd-ball religions version of this parody. I think it would make a great recording a have a good chance in the monthly competition. Feel free to use my verse too.
Susanna, you probably haven't found it yet but there's a message board you should know about. Go to www.inthe00s.com (for general info) and scroll down to the "Song parodies" and "Song Parody contest" forums especially if you like to get to know the writers here some more.

The author of the parody has authorized comments, and wants YOUR feedback.
