The Lyrics

I realise I'm a little late with this year's Halloween parody, but these past few months have been, to say the least, a bit chaotic. The candy aisle at Dollar General was restocked from the never-ending supply of ancient and imperishable candy corn by the end of July. I don't know if the haunted houses will be allowed to open or if they do, will be too scary to enter due to all the restrictions. Kansas City, Missouri is especially tight, but some of the outlying areas are beginning to come back to their senses.
Unholy night, the moon is brightly shining
It is the night of the All-Hallows Eve
Jack Lantern grins, black cat on sill reclining
Spirits appear and the skeptics believe
A chill of fear, a scary world imposes
The morning waits, will we last 'til the dawn

Fall to your knees
O, hear demonic voices
A night malign
A night when goblins roam
A night, a sign
A night of fright refined

Truly, I thought, we start this prematurely
A feast of fall while the summer rays shine
Costumes and robes, are they displayed too early?
And candy corn made in Twenty-ought Nine
A haunted house with shamrocks and Saint Patrick
Shares the same week with Saint Valentine

China disease
Our holidays are cancelled
A mask we wear
Is now meaning something new
A blight contrived?
Or night no one survived?

A rented hall, with dangers artificial
Is refuge from the true horrors outside
Will we be closed by paranoid officials?
Statistics true, or has somebody lied?
True menace nigh, next week is the election
This year's a trick, and it's treating us to Hell

Anthem, take knee!
Bow down to Black Lives Matter
Fake fans applaud
Spawned by electric spell
A fraud
A network fraud
Unholy night
There are a number of recordings on youtube. The original French version "Minuit Chretiens" has three verses. The versions by Josh Groban and Mariah Carey show two. I have a lot of extra words in my stockpile so I chose to go with three verses.
