It ought to be against the law to liken Bush to Baum’s man of straw,
Because he has a brain

it is a pair of synapses bridged by a single spirochaete.

But Dubya has a brain,

his intellect is truly rare,

that Dan-Quayle-in-th’-headlights stare.

I must say I'm somehwat surprised and maybe even a little disappointed that no Bush defender has yet braved the prefatory warning-off to suggest while pointing out that "hoi-palloi" should be rendered "hoi polloi" -- unhyphenated and with "a," not "o," twixt "p" and "l" -- that my own brain more nearly resembles a Hush Puppy's fuzziness than a Florsheim's shine. Believe it or not, that particular misspelling was placed as bait. Any others also present and unnoticed/unremarked by me are valid evidence. :-)

Hang on a second: Ricky Nelson? I don't know if he ever recorded the OS, but the hit version was by Bobby Darin. Oh well, too late, I already gave you the five. I guess we'll both have to live with it.
MP, I'm very good at being wrong about many things, but I do try to get my attributions right. AAMOF, RN did cover "Dream Lover" on Epic label releases ('79. with "That Ain't The Way Love's Supposed To Be," and '86, with "Rave On"; see RN's official website at http://www.ricknelson.com/singles.html). I'm well aware of Darin's hit version, but, as a Nelson-attributed cover was the first accessible page when I Googled to check my recollection of the original lyrics, I credited him accordingly for "As performed by" on amiright.com's submission page. So ... am I right? Your call for you. For me, unaware of any rule dictating OS attribution to designated "hit" covers, I say I'm not wrong. I can with that, and with your 5s, or without'em if you wish to rescind them. (Incidentally, for similar reasons, I attributed the OS of a "Blue Moon" parody to Frank Sinatra despite a strong personal preference for the Marcels' cover.) :-)
