The Lyrics

youtube

A lot of people over the years have noticed the similarity of "Bali Hai" to Franz Waxman's "Bride" theme for "Bride of Frankenstein." So I thought it would make a fitting song for her.
I'm the Bride
You tell me
I'm the Bride
So you say
Was I born simply to marry?
Is this my wedding day?

Who's my mate?
Is he handsome?
Is he kind
Is he sweet?
Will I know him when I see him
We were destined to meet?

I opened my eyes
And to my surprise
Saw two mad doctors
As twitchy as flies
"She's alive", you shouted
And I knew it was true
Then you told me of my purpose
Was I made just for you?

I'm alive
I'm alive
I'm alive

Someday I'll be a happy little housewife
Just waiting for my handsome man to come home
He'll bring me flowers
And we'll dance a tango
Then he'll whisper to me:
"My cherie, my cherie, mon ami..."

I'm alive, what a feeling
Knowing love waits for me
Is he kind, and is he handsome?
I'm just dying to see

I'm the Bride...
I'm the Bride...
I'm the Bride

Did not know about said similarity. Thanks. Will have to do a listen comparison.

It's actually just those main three notes that are the same, but it's still pretty noticeable.

Nice approach- 555!!! Was never into the classic Monsters that graced "Famous Monsters of Movieland" but loved "Kolchak" and "Night Gallery"... hmm... maybe you could do the latter??? And don't forget the "Twilight Zone"! Do you remember the episode "Two" where Charles Bronson and the Bewtiched girl (can't think of her name) starred as the last two combatants on earth? Lots of faves with TZ but I especially like that ep!

Thanks, yeah I'm a fiend for the old monsters and FM magazine. Also loved "Night Gallery", "Kolchak", and "TZ." My favorite "TZ" is "It's a Good Life" with Billy Mumy, which "The Simpsons" did a great spoof of on one of their Halloween specials.
