racist copycat loser
Callmelennie - June 04, 2015 - Report this comment
Well, Alfalfa, by your standard, Eddie Murphy, who originated this Buh-weet thing and used it to vault his way into stardom must also be racist, as are the producers of SNL, who gave the go ahead for this skit and also aired it, as is every liberal hipster in America who thought it was the funniest damn thing. Another possibility is that the word "racist" simply has no meaning any more, and is used mindlessly by unthinking, hate filled wretches like yourself who are incredibly bigoted in their own right

Good job as usual Lenny boy, now draw some Mohammed cartoons and smack your shoe on them repeatedly while on CNN! Seek Pam Geller for guidance. After that, get out the God Hates F@gs signs and slap a Jenner pic on one. We can't have folks thinking independently. People ought to know their place in this world. Btw, have that glass ceiling repaired before November 2016!

Who is this Pamela Geller of whom you speak, TM? Wasn't she the one who spent tens of thousands of her own dollars defending a poor Pakistani teenager named Rifqa Bary from being deported to Pakistan, where she would have been savagely murdered by her own family for converting to Christianity -- as required by Islamic law and custom? Hey, Ma-a-a-a-a-n, don't you even link me to a monster like that!!
Pleeeease! - June 04, 2015 - Report this comment
Pamela Geller is a hatemonger who has ties to white supremists. She provokes anti- Islamic hatred. No one is imposing sharia law in the United States. And this parody reeks of racial stereotyping. The fact that Callhimwacko tries to rob a fellow parodist of his original idea is proof moreover that he is too lazy to do his own work.
Thaaaanks - June 04, 2015 - Report this comment
No Pam Geller is a mentalist of Israeli extraction (I believe this to be the well spring of your unreasoning hatred of her) who is in the habit of bending spoons wherever she goes. It is patently obvious that your misogynistic tendencies have pushed you over the edge and your capacity for rationality is severely limited. Perhaps when socialized medicine has evolved sufficiently from the primitive state it finds itself in today, proper mandatory prenatal tests can be performed and forced sterilization of your mother can prevent the infliction of future mistakes, such as your good self, upon and unsuspecting world. Until that time, however, I suggest Drano with a Clorox chaser to ease your worried mind.

This parody, which tracks something that Eddie Murphy used to vault his way to superstardom, which was aired by SNL, which was hailed by every liberal hipster in America as completely hilarious .... "reeks" of racial sterotyping? Are you posting from some parallel logical universe where facts simply dont matter? And seeing as how I referred to Porfle in the Top Comments, how exactly did I "rob" Porfle of his original idea? And why isn't Porfle screaming bloody murder over this alleged stylistic thievery? ......... Oh, here's a little tip about maintaining credibility: If you're trying to paint me as some hate filled goon, you really should tone down your own obvious, free-floating, foaming-at-the-mouth hostility for me

Lennie falls flat on his face folks
Historian - June 04, 2015 - Report this comment
In their day, Al Jolson, Bing Crosby, Eddie Cantor, et al, vaulted their ways to superstardom by donning blackface and performing minstrelsy. Hattie McDaniel received the first Oscar given to a Black by hoping out loud that she would be a credit to her race. Joe Louis used to be introduced in the ring as "a credit to his race." Stepin Fetchit, Birmingham, and Rochester used to play shiftless slugs or bug-eyed cowards who'd say things like, "Feets, do yo' stuff." Even compared to the 90s, this racial stereotyping has become unacceptable. The parody is unacceptable.

Callmelennie - June 05, 2015 - Report this comment
Well, Historian, maybe you should have done a little more historical research. If you had, you would have seen that the original Buckwheat did not speak in a strange, pidgin dialect at all. He spoke standard English; and the catchphrase "O-tay" was used by all the kids in the group ................The so called "racist" Buh-weet patois was an invention of "racist" SNL writers and was performed by Eddie Murphy, who apparently was committing self-racism, and was given the thumbs up by every writer in that heart of the racist darkness, the entertainment industry. But of course, those are facts, and we musn't let facts get in the way of a good racism smear, right guys? ................ BTW, if you want to see something truly racist, you should check out the original recording of "I Put a Spell on You." Screaming Jay Hawkins is basically carrying on like a black man who is completely lacking in self control and is threatening violence to his black girlfriend if she doesn't toe the line. So, seeing as how this song has been parodied about 1500 times here at Amiright -- shouldn't you be avoiding this website altogether?
X-Clan - June 05, 2015 - Report this comment
Lennie's blatant insensitivity is motivated, I suspect, by inner racism. His parodies often reflect animosity towards people of color and religious affiliation. He defends intolerance, ignorance, and hostility towards those he does not know nor respect as equal human beings in the sight of God. For shame, for shame Mr. L!!!
Callmelennie - June 05, 2015 - Report this comment
Here again we see a progressive refusing to allow facts to get in the way of a good smear. Produce one parody that I've done that reflects animosity toward people of color, X-clan. If you're going to say this present one, then once again I'll fall back on the fact that the Buckwheat patter was created by SNL writers, OKed by SNL producers and performed by Eddie Murphy. So if you're saying this makes me as racist as Lorne Michaels, I guess I'll just have to live with that ..... As for for your criticism that my parodies of a religion that has murdered 100,000 Christians in the past few years and had slaughtered 2 million black Sudanese in the past 30 years and was founded by a man who once beheaded 800 Jewish Arabs of the Bani Khurayzah tribe in a single afternoon reflects "intolerance" on my part ..... I don't know if I can even respond to that. I don't live in your anti-logic universe
Historian - June 05, 2015 - Report this comment
Eddie Murphy introduced Buh-weet 34 years ago. SNL and Lorne Michaels were, by present broadcast standards, insensitive. Unfortunately, the character still exists, on YouTube. Black entertainers have played Black buffoons for the white man's pay check for 150 years. In our country, being white is the default condition; being black is an inferior state. As white men, we are born with an entitlement and privilege we are barely aware of. Black people keenly feel and resent the inequality. It takes work to be really color-blind.

X-clan - June 06, 2015 - Report this comment
The fact that you have gone to such great lengths to exonerate yourself over what you claim is a simple repeat of SNL mockery is proof of your guilt. Blaming someone else is always the convenient way out, right? Eliminates personal accountability and moral responsibility. Black people, in general, are very tolerant of racial bias on a daily basis because we've had to adapt ourselves to the white world in which we were historically regarded as nothing more than cattle. We have endured cruel slavery, efforts to keep us down by denying voting rights and basic human rights under segregation, domestic terrorism by Klan and Police alike (ever been hit by a fire hose by your local fire dept or had dogs loosed on you by your own police dept?), and depicted in theater, cinema, and television as human garbage. So please do not lecture me young white man. What you take for granted, black folks have paid for in blood. Until you've been put in an illegal police choke hold or racially profiled while walking or driving your own car, you have no valid points. American racism is alive and well and you Sir are part of the problem. Case closed.
Deep Thinker - June 08, 2015 - Report this comment
My two cents is I understand Murphy's Buckwheat to be a critique of the early 20th century stereotypes, and by taking it and re-imagining it he made it his own in an empowering way.
Historian - June 08, 2015 - Report this comment
Deep Thinker: Acute observation. Is that akin to Blacks usurping the word "ni**r in their conversations with each other?
Deep Thinker - June 08, 2015 - Report this comment
Yes, but with more depth, because Murphy's take both appropriates the historic offense and uses it with humor. If Tragedy + Time = Humor, then adding Humor gives you Tragedy + Humor + Time = 2Humor. Which reduces to Tragedy + Humor = 2Humor -Time, or double the Humor in less time.
Blax Jax - June 08, 2015 - Report this comment
By the '90s, n*gger and n*ggers had been replaced in rap by reinvented nigga and niggaz which sought to water down the stereotypical white use of the N- word as a hostile inflammatory insult and turn those degrading and image- damaging hate terms into black owned daily conversation terms of brotherly endearment. Not perfect, but at least self-serving in the black community. Phrases like "Nigga, pleeease!" and "Wassup ma Nigga?" flipped the usage around, turned the vile N- word on its head. But this parody harkens back to the day of white oppressive crude caricatures of black people as a whole and the degradation black folk had to endure in Hollywood to earn a living back in the day. Murphy only pandered to the white need to see and pay for black stand-up comedians to make fun of black culture in stereotypical form. That form of "entertainment" still sells today. Look at black people make fun of themselves and debase themselves for a buck... which is now disgusting in the twenty first century.

I wish anything I wrote could garner this much commentary. And Lennie is definitely right about the execrable "I Put A Spell On You". The only thing good about it is that it is short, making it easy to parody. http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/simongarfunkel163.shtml is my take on the phenomenon. I once read an article about a group of history reenactors who portray black face minstrel performers of the 1800's. The spokesman for the group said that in its time it was considered a tribute to Black artists and their art forms, just as Elvis Presley acknowledged his debt to African-American music, or white artists today who perform rap. I see nothing wrong with playing on popular stereotypes and mocking them. That is part of what this site is all about. We don't behead people for their skin color or religion or sexuality. Let's keep it that way. But let us never loose our sense of humor. That is what distinguishes us from our enemies.
Historian - June 08, 2015 - Report this comment
"But let us never loose our sense of humor," writes Patrick. Let loose the hounds! The meaning he conveys is the opposite of what he intends. He should have written, "But let us never lose our sense of humor." This is my way of playing on the popular stereotype of people of Irish ancestry committing hilarious malapropisms. Almost as big a tribute as creating a Black kid with a speech defect.

This is cute, reminiscent of Eddie Murphy's famous portrayal. I think a few of your lines are a little off-pace, but otherwise, it's hilarious! 4-5-5. Really, people, 22 1-1-1's. I'm sick of seeing such careless, vindictive ratings. This parody is mostly on pace (hence my 4). C'mon: let's be mature about this, and give thoughtful, honest ratings. Giving all 1's on a parody that's well-written (even if you don't think it's funny) is mean, dismissive, dishonest, and disrespectful. I don't have time now to read the ream of comments here, right now. Hopefully I'll come back later.
What? - June 14, 2015 - Report this comment
I find the above comment by Melanie Lee offensive and insincere, especially since she didn't even take the time to read the critical reviews of Len's perpetuation of racial and cultural stereotypes offensive to black folk of all generations. It doesn't matter if this piece of trash pretending to be a parody receives a hundred 111s as it would be well-deserved. Melanie, like Len, feels no moral obligation not to write such vile filth. Melanie does not hold the author accountable either. Perhaps Melanie should consider other people's feelings and perform introspection on herself. Racism is racism in whatever form. And racism is not a subject that is humorous. Why white people think it is to this day is appalling. These are the same people who cry when seeing Roots, Selma, Fruitvale Station, etc... and yet can applaud this junk with a 455.
