The new VW project XL Sport is an oddball sportscar with a non-traditional mid-mounted Ducati twin motorcycle engine of 197 hp and 100 lb-ft of torque. It has desmodromic valve control, titanium connecting rods, and redlines at 11,000 rpm!!! Can reach 60 mph in 5.7 secs (about the same as a Toyota Camray V-6)! It is sleek and aerodynamic with reduced weight of 1900 lbs due to usage of carbon fiber reinforced polymer bodywork. Add quad control arm suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes, magnesium alloy rims with wider tires for improved cornering grip... and VW has another masterpiece. The only complaint so far is that the interior is racing spartan- no frills. And the rear end has recessed framed brake lighting around a mesh center, single exhaust pipe. The XL Sport is basically a crotch rocket motorcycle in car form!!!
