"The Awesome MG-42"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

The Incredible German MG-42 machine gun had a ROF of 1200 rpm and sounded like the shredding of calico according to Allied troops that faced it. It was so good that it survived WW2 and became the Bundeswehr MG-3 still in use today.
The Awesome MG-42
machine gunnin’ time

Greatest machine gun of WW2
GIs ain’t lyin’
Saw body parts flyin’

Allied infantry can’t withstand it
Grunts seekin’ ground
Limbs torn up badly
MG-42 gunner team shot them all down

The Awesome MG-42
machine gunnin’ time
In 7.9 (mm)

It got you
It got you
It got you
It got you and how
Bloody parts everywhere
Pride of the German Infantry
Still in use right now (as MG-3)

GIs feared me
The Awesome MG-42
machine gunnin’ time

Nice story about the MG-42, usually, I don't pay much attention to guns, due to the fact, that they scare me to death, :-o, But load up three live 5's for this one Rob! :-)

ROF= Rate of Fire in rpm (rounds per minute). Although the MG-42 fired 1200 rpm, the German MG-81 had a ROF of 1600 rpm!!! It was used mainly as an aircraft weapon and Stukas carried the first gunpods during WW2 with 3 twinned MG-81s firing 9600 rpm!!! Even in WW1 the Germans invented Motorgewehr or "Motorgun/Motorcannon" at 1400 rpm. Some were installed in Pfalz D.XII fighters before the war ended. And the twinned GAST gun fired 1600 rpm as well. The Germans hid those guns, but they were discovered and destroyed by the ACC. Lastly, the Germans invented the aircraft revolver cannon in WW2- the Mauser MK-213C which was a single barrel with rotary breech. It became the British Aden and French DEFA cannons postwar. The MG-42, BTW, was modified into the MG-45 which fired 1500 rpm but was only a prototype: http://www.auction-service.com/auktionshaus.com/bilder/E9068/p906814398e.jpg

In fact, because of its blazing fast ROF, the MG-42 was also nicknamed "Hitler's Buzzsaw".
