Ron Artest, former NBA Sacramento King and power-forward for the LA Lakers is changing his given name to Metta World Peace which is absurd given that in 2004 Ron attacked an innocent fan at a game because he _thought_ they guy threw a cup of Coke at his head and then three years later was involved in domestic abuse against his wife. The celebrity name change is not the issue, but Ron's character doesn't match something so intimate and permanent as a legal name change. He hardly represents "Metta" which means loving kindness. In metta the heart opens unconditionally, encompassing all that is, with acceptance, awareness and good will. Nor the "World"... nor "Peace" in any form!!!
