The Lyrics

The Vautour (Vulture) originated in France in 1952 as an all-weather fighter-bomber and entered servive in 1956. By 1960, Israel had ordered 25 of the Vautour IIAs and a small number of night0fighting IINs. They would be invaluable when the Six Day War struck in 1967. The Vautours immediately went into action and destroyed a large amount of Egyptian and other Arab aircraft on the ground including Egypt's imported Tu-16 Badger bombers. The aircraft then struck in the Sinai taking out Egyptian tanks before supporting IDF forces advancing towards the Suez. For an older design the Vautour proved itself well. The IIA traveled subsonic at 685 mph and could carry 6000 lbs of bombs internally plus many stores externally like rockets. It carried 4x 30mm DEFA cannons in the nose for awesome firepower. The type remained in service until 1973, retired due to fatigue and obsolecence... but it had its glory in the Six Day War. This is one of my favorite aircraft of all time...
Six Day War in Vautour II
Egypt lost 309 (aircraft)

Egypt, Syria, Jordan, and Iraq too
They were attackin’
Vautours fast actin’

Vautour, pre-emptive bandit
Hit Egyptian Badgers on the ground
Killed Arab tanks in the desert
Helped Israeli Army that was Suez-bound

Six Day War in Vautour II
Egypt lost 309 (aircraft)
Tanks in Sinai (too)

Roar above you
Roar above you
Roar above you
Vultures to the rescue
Egypt caught unaware
Was at the Vulture’s mercy
Fighter-bomber destroyed you

Israeli victory
Six Day War in Vautour II
Egypt lost 309 (aircraft)
(Vulture made IAF history)

Men fighting and dying to seize land that was too hot and too barren to live on. Do you recall what sort of jet the Irish Air Corps once employed? I think it was some sort of light French trainer.

The Irish Air Corps operated six Fouga Magisters, four of which equipped the Silver Swallows display team. http://aerobaticteams.net/images/silver-swallows/silver-swallows-fouga-25.jpg
