Decades ago, meth partners Wesley Shermantine and Loren Herzog went on a killing spree and may have murdered up to 30 people over time, mainly buried in mass graves in Linden, Ca. Both were arrested and convicted in 6 of the murders, Shermantine maintaining that Herzog had done the killings. Herzog was released on appeal and did not speak to Shermantine. Upset about this betrayal, Shermantine wrote to a Stockton reporter with a crude map of an area that held bodies and a demand for money for more info. Leonard Padilla, a famous bounty hunter, got the word and then promised Shermantine $33,000 for all the information on all the body locations. He also contacted Herzog and told him the news of Shermantine's disclosures- hours later he hung himself. So Shermantine holds all the information and already two bodies have been indentified- that of Chevelle "Chevy" Wheeler killed in 1985 and Cyndi Vanderheiden killed in 1998. There are many more families that have had the old wounds opened again by Shermatine who used to taunt them over their loved ones unknown locations. Padilla has not yet paid Shermantine but is confident that with the money all the bodies will be located and identified. But the info for money is cruel. The families and even those that do not know if the "Speed Freak Klllers" murdered their loved ones around the same times and places must re-live the killings all over again and wait... until each body is found and identified... IF they ever are. At anytime Shermantine can stop selling info, or maybe he might be killed in prison and everything stops. A sickening story....
