The Lyrics

Most people are aware of the WW2 German V-Weapons as V-1 and V-2. There were, however, several more V-designations for prototypes and designs: V-3 HDP multi-barrel gun (France), Henschel V-4 cruise missile, and V-5 DFS Bombensegler attack glider. The V-4 was an intended replacement for the V-1 with an elongated body, canard-wing layout, and a Pabst ramjet up top. It too would be launched from ramps, but using a RATO unit instead of a chemical propellent. Since Sweden was neutral and yet providing iron ore to Germany, in 1945 as the Allies advanced it was thought that Sweden might stop shipments and turn to the Allies if Norway was invaded. German diplomats conveyed warnings to Sweden that if the ore stopped, Southern Sweden would be hit by a new V-4 weapon. This was located on a Polish island in the Baltic known to Germans as Misdroy. The launch ramps were erected in 1945, pointing NORTH, not West- so the threat was real. The Pabst ramjet was coming along but there is no answer of how many V-4 weapons were assembled before the Soviets got there. But immediately postwar, there was a "Ghost Rocket" scare coming from the area of Peenemunde and Misdroy. The rockets were described as long streaks of fire which could be the V-4 testing. The Soviets are reported to have taken the missiles to their test facility N-II-88.
V-4 missile to cruise
outta time…

On Misdroy, V-1 to improve
Elongatin’
New ramjet matin’

Swedish ore was needed
Fear of turn-around
Henschel missile deadly
Switch and V-4s would be rainin’ down

[Bornholm and Southern Sweden inbound]

V-4 missile to cruise
outta time…
In ‘45

Was a ruse
Was a ruse
Was a ruse
Meant to intimidate?
Soviets there
Tested secretly (at)
N-II-88

Trajectory?
V-4 missile to cruise
outta time…
(Baltic postwar “Ghost Rocket” mystery?)
THE INFORMATION ON THE V-4 COMES FROM THE "SUPERTAJNE BRONIE HITLERA" BOOK BY I. WITKOWSKI: "In 1948 I had my holiday in Miedzyzdroy from the beginning of June up to the end of July. It was shortly upon my transfer to the reserve from the Polish Military Forces, where I served as a gunner (in battery of 120mm mortar). From the local inhabitants I found out that at some 7 or 10 kilometers not far from the open sea-shore since the days of the war there were some spots and installations for launching of the secret German "Wunderwaffen". They mentioned that there were V-1. Actually, that region was located among the seaside dunes here and there towering above for several meters and in general between the sea-shore and the lake under German name "Jordan-See" (I don't know the corresponding Polish name) which extended for the distance from one and a half to two kilometers. There were located: Nearer to Miedzysdroy : there were two installations for launching of V-4 based on the concrete supports like "ski-jump" - see picture No.1, which were taken by me for likely launchers of V-1 shells the local inhabitants - hereditary German fishermen - supported me. But probably those installations were for launching of V-4 shells. They were directed to the North towards Bornholm and the southern shores of Sweden. When surprised I asked the German fishermen: "Why are they directed to Sweden?" they answered: "We (Germans) thought that when we begin to lose the war, Sweden will take English side. England may also occupy Norway and even the southern Sweden, then they will be right in front of our shells". http://www.unicraft.biz/germ/v4/v4a.jpg
