Nu-Cle-ar
That's a word, a word Dubya cannot say
The proper way

Clutz says, "Nu - cue - lar"
"Cue"'s a stick, with which one would billiards play
That's the wrong way!

How his diction can grate on my ear
That's an error I don't care to hear
For the word he speaks
Is non-existent
Say it right; don't be...

Resistant! "Nu - cue - lar"
How I wince, I wince at that ad - ject - ive
It's de - fect - ive!
This rube tells us he studied at Yale
If that's so, why does speech badly fail?
For he also says
He went to Harvard
What a son George One
Has farthered!

"Nu-Cle-ar"
Say it right! Why Nixon through "Deep Throat" sat:
"Get it down Pat!"
George, please get it pat
Get it pat
Say it pat
George, please get it pat
Get it pat
Get it pa - a - a - a - a - a - a - a - a - a - a - a - a - a - a - a - at!

Shirley Bassey's final note (i. e. scream) in the OS is exactly what the author would like to do after hearing this boner, so to speak, for the thousandth time. (The only one comparably egregious and common is referring to Realtors as "Realators". OK, got that off my plastron.) For the record, Dictionary.com says, "The pronunciation (noo-ky-lr) (i. e., Dubya's, and no "nooky" jokes, OK?), which is generally considered incorrect, is an example of how a familiar phonological pattern can influence an unfamiliar one. The usual pronunciation of the final two syllables of this word is (-kl-r), but this sequence of sounds is rare in English. Much more common is the similar sequence (-ky-lr), which occurs in words like particular, circular, spectacular, and in many scientific words like molecular, ocular, and vascular." That's a nice try at an excuse, but do they really think Dubya uses words such as "ocular" or "vascular"??? With the unshakable devotion to truth that is the hallmark of all great artists, the author must note that Jimmy Carter made the same mistake; however, the similarity ends right there. © 2006 Tommy Turtle.

"Do you expect me to talk well?" No, Mister Bush! I expect you to RESIGN! Actually, today, President George Bush gave a terrific speech at the funeral of Coretta Scott King. Too bad it was the father, not the son who thinks he's actually President. And how Bill, Hillary, Jimmy Carter, Ted Kennedy, Joe Lowery, Maya Angelou and Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin dropped references to the way the Kings would have opposed him! Best funeral I've ever seen.

What....were you built for Amiright or something? "Snappy" comeback. : D
TT - February 10, 2006 - Report this comment
Adagio... when Ma and Pa T give you a name like Tommy Turtle, alliteration comes kinda naturally, but otherwise, like all tortoises, I move sort of slowly... sort of adagio.....
TT - February 10, 2006 - Report this comment
Oh, and thanks, Adagio, but it wasn't really that snappy of a comeback. The joke was already in the song -- the Nixon/Deep Throat reference. Was afraid that younger AIRs might not be familiar - can explain if anyone really wants to know.
