The Lyrics

A friend of mine used to brag that I could write a song about almost anything. Then I saw a plastic bag blowing along 6th Street in downtown Kansas City, Kansas. The first verse I found in an online lyrics site, but it is absent from the old 78 rpm and Kinescope recordings on youtube. I included it for the sake of completeness.
I'm a busy shopper, got to finish soon
Muzak speakers whispering an unheard tune
Filled up my cart, time to check out
Cashier's question fills me with doubt

How to carry my bread?
"Guess I'll take plastic", I said
"Or maybe paper instead"
I had been offered a choice of a grocery sack

Took my purchases home
Sack at the basket was thrown
Reached to answer the phone
There on the floor lay a crumbled up grocery sack

I don't know where it's gone
Must have kicked it to the lawn

Now it's rolling along
Places it doesn't belong
Wherever breezes blow strong
Drifting along goes my tumbling grocery sack

Your friend was right.

Nice job of showing that to the truly creative mind, anything can be a source of inspiration or subject matter. Even more of an accomplishment when the subject matter is trivial. 555

btw, DKTOS, but should it be "tuMbleweeds", or is it actually "tubleweeds"?

It's "Tumbleweeds". My eyesight ain't what it used to be.
