Song Parodies -> "Trillion Granted; Heaving"

Original Song Title:

"Some Enchanted Evening"

Parody Song Title:

"Trillion Granted; Heaving"

Parody Written by:

Tommy Turtle

The Lyrics

OS lyrics here.

Trillion granted; heaving
Congress: gettting stranger
U.S. is in danger
Of our bankruptcy soon

But somehow, I know
Those women and men
Will vote for debt deeper
Again and again

For our kids, I'm grieving
Congress and its staffers
Should hang from the rafters
For this boondoggle boon

And somehow, I know
Despite all our screams
The cost of their gaffe-ing
Will kill our kids' dreams

Who can explain it?
I can tell you why
Each little district
Wants its slice of pie

Disenchanted: theiving
Think we need a new Gov.
I'd like to throw all you -
- Into a crowded tomb

Give up your free ride
Don't throw us a bone
And all through your life
You can pay for your own!

Once, we were founded;
Spending: apropos
Now we have foundered
Ever down we go

Ever
Down
We
Go!

This parody really tells all, Tommy! You're as great a parodist like Alvin and AFW!! Very articulate lyrics, fluently paced, and quite humorous. Yep, the economy is still bad, I'll give you that! It's all good! 555!

Excellent stuff, TT. Great substitutions, particularly "new Gov" and disenchanted: thieving." And great job of working meaningful lyrics into the short lines of TOS. "Each little district/wants its slice of the pie" is a succinct way of explaining the entitlement mentality that seems to be afflicting all politicians.
