The Lyrics

As performed by Bart Simpson

The teacher had us writing on one boring, lame school day,
Stupid little essays for a stupid holiday.
When all at once a bright idea flared up in my mind,
While I was scrawling swear words backwards 'tween the lines.
Oh - ohmigod! Cowabunga! I'll write a swear word in the sky!

I shot out of the classroom like a repressed butt hole toot,
With Miz Crabappel and the principal in hot pursuit.
I rushed down to the DMV to get a fake ID,
(Damn those abbreviations!)
So I could rent an airplane to do my awesome deed.
Coo-oo-ool, man! Ay caramba! I'll write a swear word in the sky.

I got into the airplane and I flew up in the air,
Over others that were writing mushy notes up there.
Below was a herd of elephants with Apu astride,
With mushy notes and flowers painted on their hides.
Bleee-eech! Gagged with a spoon! Barf raining from the sky.

I put my best "fart" forward over Mr. Burns' nuke plant,
Then I paid my disrespect to Springfield Element.
I sky wrote Indian swear words over Apu's Kwik E Mart,
And made Ned Flanders naked with my aerial art.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Ha, ha, ha, ha! I wrote a swear word in the sky!

(Instrumental - brass band)

Well, Springfield's Finest caught up with me, alas, alas,
Officer Wiggums forced me to land, at last, at last.
I went to jail and I got sentenced for eternity,
To writing Bible verses over Branson, Missouri.

Some questionable pacing here and there("damn those abbreviations", indeed!), especially in trying to stretch out the Yippy-yi-ays. Kudos for referencing Spike Jones, though--his cover of the OS was the "Smells Like Nirvana" of its time.

Don't forget that the last verse changes to the tune of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" as in the original song satire. The video is on You Tube.

pOccasional Pacing hiccup or no, I loved it, esp. the concluding sentence.

Not terribly familiar with the OS, but very funny. . .and "Branson, Missouri" is quite a place (grew up in St. Louis--so I've more than been to Branson) Since I treated this as more of a read, I gave you the benefit of the doubt on pacing. . .:)
