Leo Keough suggested that AIR stop the Left-Right infighting and concentrate on sending up our real enemies. Great idea, Leo! So, Left, Right, everyone, here's that trend-starter.

OS movie sound track was slightly changed in the the distributed (radio) version, which eliminates reference to the killer by name, for those who might not have seen the movie. *Both* versions, along with an excellent mp3, are here. Parody follows the most well-known version, as sung by Frankie Laine for radio play, but has a substitute verse at the end to keep the syllable-matching with the original movie title song as sung by Tex Ritter, which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song (plus Best Score, Editing, and Best Actor for Gary Cooper).

Hadn't intended to post a song today, but had just finished watching "High Noon" (again), saw the parallels, and the parody was knocked out in eight minutes. Guess that's why the movie is called a "classic" -- its themes are still as relevant today as they were 57 years ago.

The best parodies seem to write themselves. This is a good one. "High Noon", masterpiece that it is, perpetuates a myth of the Old West as a place where one hero had to step up while everyone else cowered in fear. Real frontier towns were populated by Civil War veterans and people who crossed the prairies in covered wagons fighting bandits, Natives, and Nature along the way. They all had guns, and were unlikely to be pushed around by a gang of strangers. In reality, the gang would have been shot down by the townfolk before they'd have gotten off the station platform. See Richmond, Missouri 1866, Mankato, Minnesota 1871, Coffeyville, Kansas 1892. I hope President Obama is open to reminders from the public of the essential job that still remains to be done. We the people can take care of the economy if the government would simply get out of the way. Taking care of security is the real reason we need the feds at all.

Good song and parody. I agree with the sentiment; like or dislike either side, but it is better for all of us if he is successful.

Peter Andersson: If you've never seen the movie, "High Noon", it's a classic among the American Western genre and won four Academy Awards. It's available on DVD and well worth renting, and not just for the title song! Try it and let me know how you liked it. Thanks for stopping by.
