ALL ALONE

So now I’ve gone and sent that text,
I’m wondering what I ought to do now.
With no-one home I ask what’s next.
I really do not have the know-how.
Should I re-join the march
And return to Marble Arch?

I often walk to work you know
When others use their cars and driving.
I think of Mark and I wonder
Is he now at work or skiving?
The City works all day
And I watch men as they go grey!

All alone,
Just wondering what’s inside me.
On my own,
I wake up every morning,
I get up and see the mess around me.
Some time ago I lost my way for days
And no-one found me!

When it snows the roads are cold and icy,
Driving cars becomes so very dicey!
In the country, there’s very little gritting
And all I see are potholes everywhere and they need filling!
Yet who knows what’s really on my mind,
As I think that I’m the only one who hears.
And I know they say that love is blind,
With eyes wide open, there’s still hope.

I like Mark
But when our work is finished
He’s long gone
To one bar or another.
I know now
I’m never going to change him.
I’d love the chance to find romance
But I can’t rearrange him.

I like him
As I have liked no other,
But I fear
There is no future in it.
It seems like
He acts just like a brother.
He’s always very sweet to me,
But now I’m on my own.

But now I’m all alone.
