Parody Song Title:

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I broke one of my cardinal rules of parody writing: Never write an entire parody around one line. It's almost never worth it. But I'm watching one of those half-hour music retrospective infomercials, and it's about the doo-wop period, and the familiar "Ah-oopa-oopa-oopa-oopa" comes on, and this parody wrote itself in about five minutes. Which dovetails with another cardinal rule of parody writing: If a song is writing itself, let it write and get out of the way. Maurice Williams, who later had a Number 1 hit with "Stay," did the original version with his group the Gladiolas. Here's a link to the word that I built the song around: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/1013043mackris16.html
(instrumental opening)

Ahhhh
yi-yi-yi-yi
yi-yi-yi-yi
yi-yi-yi...

Bill O'Reilly.
Oh, Bill O'Reilly.
Oh, what's
with you?

Fox anchor
you're a liar
you're so
untrue!
A loofa, loofa, loofa!

How you're spinning
that you're winning
But did not
win the suit!
No, not... the suuuuuuuuit!

(O'Reilly speaks)
My producer
I need you.
without your clothes
in my no-spin zone.

To slap the left
with both your hands.
And we'll both follow
Murdoch's commands.

(Andrea Mackris)
You, I can't stand!

(back to me)
Listened to ya.
Now, that's torture!
Won't you try
to be true!
A loofa, loofa, loofa!

Olbermann's right:
You're Worst Person
in the World!
Now, that's true!
About only youuuuuuuu!

(cha-cha-cha)

I don't like this song, actually, despite my love of doo-wop and songs that end with a cha-cha-cha. But I couldn't resist. I just wish I'd written it four years ago while the O'Reilly-Mackris scandal was still new. Of course, it was another few months before Olbermann started his "Worst Person in the World" sketch, and "Billo the Clown" so often ends up as one of the three nominees, and no one has been the "winner" more often.

I always liked that old silly song - nice job with it. Jon Stewart does a nice job on O' Reilly too and even has the guts to have him on the show at times.
