Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Had them in hand, my glasses, and I put them down
Did not know where
I checked the car, the bathroom sink, and pantry shelf
They were not there
I'm stinkin' blind, stinkin' blind
Can't see much without them

Had a plan to see the game in boston, but i
Could not drive
I called a friend and gave him both my seats
And tried not to cry
He thanked me much, thanked me much; he turned
Tipped his hat and left

Went to find my radio just to hear the game
Real loud and clear
Oh, how unfair, it wasn't there
So I kicked my couch, and then I kicked the wall
I let go a scream, let go a scream
And then I dialed 9-1-1

Missed the whole ballgame,
Missed the whole ballgame,
Missed the whole ballgame- damn!

The cops then came, asked me my name; I couldn't speak
-was in such pain-
They spoke baseball and knew it all,
Said that the game was
Delayed by rain
The game wouldn't start, it wouldn't start
For at least a few hours from right then.

If I moved fast could get my foot in cast in record time
And catch the game
Though I was blind I got behind the wheel to drive
And felt no shame
I hit a tree and as I hit the tree
I heard myself cry out, "no!'..."no!!"

Missed the whole ballgame,
Missed the whole ballgame,
Missed the whole ballgame- damn

(Idol) I'm being 100% honest in saying I had never heard of this song or the band who sang it prior to now. To my surprise though, this backing track is not only available, it's available in several keys. . .You paced it well--and I got the humor, my only quibble was that it is hard to follow a rhyme scheme when it is changed so much from TOS and you don't know TOS, but that's not something I will take into serious consideration when grading this in the contest, just a personal preference of mine. I tend to change rhyme schemes within the same general rhyme range (as in feminine rhymes and masculine rhymes remain the same-to help capture the spirit of TOS without sounding like a misheard lyric parody. Like if an original rhyme is "Same" & "Mame", I might you "Say" and "Hey" or even "Taze" and "Blaze", because they are different while still easy to follow along for reading--but it's not something I'm saying you necessairly have to do--just something that helps for those who don't know TOS:)

Good storytelling, Gianni - something that's hard to do with a shorter song like this one. Well done.

(AI) It was a clever parody. I have no problem with rhyme changes. I have to say, though, this didn't have the humorous payoff that I was hoping for.
