Song Parodies -> "Palin, Palin"

Original Song Title:

"Sailing, Sailing (Over The Bounding Main)"

Original Performer:

Traditional

Parody Song Title:

"Palin, Palin"

Parody Written by:

Tommy Turtle

The Lyrics

OS has verses, which most people (like me) don't know, so just stuck with the well-known chorus.

Palin, Palin, VP to John McCain
The guy has an eye for chicks; he picks
Another freakin' "10"
Palin, Palin, beautiful and a brain
Poor Hillary's stack must surely blow
She missed the boat again!

Palin, Palin, Democrats spew disdain
And many a stormy wind shall blow
From Joe, and B'rack Hussein
Palin, Palin, ready for tough campaign
But she's got domestic oil 'cause ---
Alaska's her domain!

Palin, Palin, ready to take the rein
If telephone rings at 3am, she'll get it, not McCain
Palin, Palin, driving the Dems insane
Historic'ly thought they'd nailed a "first"
They've been.... upstaged.... a-gain!

She's an ultra-reactionary troglodyte, but--hate to admit it--her choice is starting to look like a stroke of evil genius.

Sadly, I think McCain's choice of VP may have just sunk Barak. Within 24 hours I had three guys tell me they'd vote for McCain, just 'cus "Palin's Hot!" November is going to be very interesting.

great stuff...stay tuned for the weirdest election in history

Funny and timely. Palin's pick for VP reminds me of the movie "Wag the Dog". It's a total publicity stunt.
Funny...I started working on a Palin parody to the OS "Sailing" by Christopher Cross. Oh well...

Haha, I loved this! I'm not a fan of Pal(pat)in(e) at all, but your syllable matching was spot-on and witty to boot. Well done.

Yes, the KnightHoods are all drooling over MsSarah ! For the USA, I hope AZ-John can keep his brain functioning . . .

Everybody: I finally figured out why the Dems couldn't break the "glass ceiling": Look at the women they chose! Ferraro - ugh. Clinton (ask Bill). It's all about charisma and the video clips - remember during the GOP debates when they kept panning to Elizabeth Kucinich, not only when Dennis K. was speaking, but when everybody else was, too? You would rather look at:
a) Lix Kucinich, or
b) Fred Thompson

Hmmm, tough call.... (duh!). I say, "Palin- E. Kucinich in 2012! Eye candy for President! (Could they make things any *worse*?) It's the first time in my life I've ever wanted to (sleep with) a White House occupant or nominee in the literal sense, as opposed to the figurative sense of wanting them to all go (sleep with) themselves.

John Barry: That's better than the evil stupidity presently in power, isn't it? :) Thanks, John.
BR> Meriadoc: See above. Thanks for VC, Merry.

alvin: and no one thought the y2k election could ever be topped for weirdness! thanks alvin.

Invisible Boy: Great minds think alike. That OS crossed my mind as well, before hitting on this one. No reason for you not to do yours - different OS. Thanks for v/c.

EmiLoca: Thanks for the kind words and vote, EL.

SwingVO: Maybe Ms. P is just what J-Mac needs to keep his brain going? She certainly keeps my brain going, not to mention -oh, n/m. Thanks for v/c.

Well done, TT. I think that those who oppose Governor Palin are apprehensive about real reform.
Below Average Dave - September 06, 2008 - Report this comment
Well, John J, I will respect your opinion, but I oppose her because I oppose her view points--I wish either party really fit my view points-but I don't support someone who makes fun of community organizers, I have served for one before-they have "Real Responsibilities" and I don't appreciate being laughed at by some rich woman on national TV who is too ignorant to appreciate those who are beneath her. . .
John Jenkins - September 06, 2008 - Report this comment
Fair enough, BAD. But two points:

Governor Palin’s comment was simply a response to criticisms of her being a small town mayor, and I think she is correct in implying that there is more accountability for small town mayors than for community organizers.

I am sure that you were a hard working, legitimate community organizer; but, in his community organizing days, Senator Obama was very involved with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). And ACORN is notorious for voter fraud scandals.

She looks like a girlie girl. McCain may have chose her for the same reason Pappa Bush chose Dan Quayle - to make himself look more intelligent.

Dream: on flight to Chicago, it was crammed so tight . . . Stewardesses were down on the floor; Sarah PALIN, in stewardess dress, . . . shaving the thighs & legs of a Male passenger down in the aisle . . . Jim says he ain' t no Cowboy, he's still wearin' his socks & wing tips; He' s got red hair. Jim, I think I " can wait " until we get to o'Hare . . . Then I climbed over immigrants back to my seat. Oh, Jim, I think I'm going to throw . . . This is worse than any DELTA flight !

John Jenkins and Below Average Dave: Interesting dialog (and much more polite than some of the political barbs that have been thrown by certain other parties at other songs). Thanks to both for votes and thoughtful comments.

SFO-ORD: Thanks for stopping by here on your trip. Hope you made it safely.

2Eagle: Isn't against the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) to discriminate against someone for having a physical handicap, such as being beautiful? :) Seriously, getting up at 3am to hunt moose with your father in the Alaska wilderness is Barbie? :-) Thanks for vc, 2E.
Melanie Lee - September 06, 2008 - Report this comment
Cute stuff. 5-5-5. I actually like Palin as a person: cute, tough, feminine without being a girly-girl, a beauty pageant runner-up with five kids, who worked her way up from small-town beginnings (although she's still a big fish in a small pond), and she hunts (which doesn't seem so bad in Alaska), and she's a personable, spunky kid. She does seem like the librarian who could "let her hair down"! I also like that she's a woman of faith who doesn't seem holier-than-thou; after all, she didn't toss out her kid who got pregnant! I'm tempted to vote for her--almost. However, her disparaging remarks about community organizers show me that she doesn't understand big-city--or even suburban--politics, and doesn't care to. Now those quips coming from Palin are understandable, because they're outside here experience. But from Rudy Giuliani?! My God--the former mayor of a big city shows contempt for community organizers, and by extension, those whom they represent? Shows where he is. I'm happy to say I never voted for the guy.

Melanie Lee, thanks for the vote and insightful comment.

Yeah TT, that's the great thing about AmIRight, those of us who can look at thing objectively can also see it's simply matter of different opinion and different outlook. I can always respect another opinion when they aren't combative (or evil) and John Jenkins is neither--which makes it possible for me to still like him as a person even if we don't always see eye to eye on everything. Melanie-very well said, almost my thoughts to a T--minus the consideration to vote for her--but you really summed up my opinion well without even knowing it.

TT, I apologize for turning your parody comments into a Sara Palin thread. But I find it interesting that both Below Average Dave and Melanie Lee had issues with Governor Palin's community organizer comment, but nobody had a problem with her pointing out that Mr. Obama has written two memoirs but never authored a major bill!
Below Average Dave - September 07, 2008 - Report this comment
Sorry--but I don't have a problem with her having an opinion that he is less qualified because he hasn't authored a major bill, but I am not bothered by the fact that he hasn't either. It is my opinion that MOST of the major bills passed over the last (*insert number here*) years have been pointless or even counter-productive, so If not passing a bill is a bad thing, I guess I'm just weird, because I'm sick of things being put into law just to give people something to do--Big Brother has gotten way to big. . .If anything that contradicts anyone who says that Democrats are the only ones who go for big government--seeing as Obama (as you pointed out) has never authored a major bill. . hmm, just interesting to me.

Below Average Dave, John Jenkins, and Melanie Lee:
I don't mind having a SP debate thread here; in fact, I like it - it increases the hit count :) :) :)

And with everyone being so respectful to the other, you don't need a moderator :-) Carry on -- there's never been an ideal politician and never will be, and each of you has raised valid points. I leave you with this thought, which pretty well sums up the political situation today:

"Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber."

(That was written by Plato about 2400 years ago. Smart dude -- and nothing has changed since.)

p. s. BAD, thanks for the welcome! I'm not here much -- as mentioned at http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/thetemptations17.shtml, I've been spending most of my available parody time trying to get stuff on the radio (i. e., and get paid for it), with some success here and there. I do miss this place, though. Regards, TT.
