Parody Song Title:

"Sixteen Tons (The Snow Shovelin' Song)"

Parody Written by:

Rice Cube & Watt Daddy

The Lyrics

Channel 29's not the weather channel...but humor us. As ad-libbed by Watt Daddy while shoveling snow with his mama in this gosh-darned blizzard.
CHORUS
You shovel sixteen tons
What do ya get?
Two sore shoulders and a really sore back
Don't invite me out brother, 'cause I can't go!
My driveway's covered with six feet of snow.

I woke up in the mornin' and the sun didn't shine
I turned on the TV to channel 29
A whoop and a holler from my breast arose
I heard, "blizzard of the century...school and work are closed!"

CHORUS

No don't try to sell me one of those things that blow
I take pride in my work of shovelin' snow.
No, wait, I'm lyin', that's wrong I s'pose.
I'm just mighty fond o' my fingers and toes.

CHORUS

Any drift be in my way, it best step aside
Many men do the same thing, and as many've died.
My shovel's pure iron, and my car's made of steel.
If I I don't shovel through it then drive over I will.

CHORUS X2

Nice Job! Timely too. I watch Charlottesville, VA channel 29, which I check for cancellations so it rings true even there - lol! Nice choice of a song to parody!

Once again, Rice & Watt are two steps ahead of me. Another winner, Guys.

18 inches in New Brunswick, New Jersey... and I'm not talking about anything that helps me! I can't see the job you did shoveling snow, but a good job with the song. Incidentally, written by Merle Travis in 1947, best known version by Tennessee Ernie Ford in 1955, though Lorne Greene (Ben Cartwright of "Bonanza") included it on a 1965 album of "work songs." Good version.
