The Lyrics

Ah December, time to get those outdoor decorations up.

Lights to hang, snow is glist'ning
Hope that I, won't be slipping
But I think I might
I'm fearful of heights
Maybe I should call a handyman

On my way up the ladder
Freezing rain, pitter patter
I hope that I'm wrong
My fall would be long
Stuck here in a scary no man's land

In the morning sun was out no snow, man
Afternoon the snow is falling down
If I wasn't married I'd say, "No man!"
But promised her this job would be done now

Can't go on, can't go higher
As I cling ever tighter
I'm deathly afraid
I'll need some first aid
Think I got a splinter in my hand

See the snow, icy glist'ning
Now I know, I'm a'slipping
A terrible fright
My body in flight
Won'dring where the hell I'm gonna land

Looks like I was shot out from a cannon
Then descend just like a circus clown
Hope there's something soft that I can land on
Until I see the Wise Man and his crown

Then I land, ain't it thrilling
And my blood, comes a'spilling
My limbs all astray
They take me away
Think I've had my under armor lanced
Shocking, there's a king's crown in my can
Talking 'bout my winter blunder grand

Yer decorous verbiage strung me along to new heights BJ21--this one's truly wreathed in 'too funny'!

And after all the joy of putting them and not falling, you get a second chance when you take them down after Christmas.

555 feet plunge to the ground, I won't try it due to fear of heights...

Great job, blackjack. On the subject of Xmas lights and ladders, I have fallen off ladders more times than I'd care to admit to, most recently when installing a vintage Miller Time pool-table light above the pool table in my converted garage, so I got my Uncle Del to put up my lights this year. He's an expert at those kind of things. 5s.

Excellent variations of the title line, fun all around. Good to see some "down to Earth" humor. =)

Hilarious, as usual... You might take a tip from my husband, who is threatening to just write "Ditto" in lights on our garage door, with an arrow pointing to my well-lit neighbor's house. ;)

Jack: Thanks, and I only put up half as many lights as the Griswolds.

Mark: And freezing rain in the forecast, thanks for v/c.

TJC: If you go around back, I strung up some lights that say "THANKS"

Timmy: The doc said not to get on a ladder until June, so a little help here? ;-)

Max: It was only like 5 feet but that Wise Man was brutal, thanks for the plunge.

Andria: Always good to have an Uncle Del in the family, thanks for the fivers.

Red Ant: Thanks for the down-to-earth comments.

Fiddlegirl: Thanks, but I'd be scared the Limbaugh haters would be after me. ;-)

Jonathan: No, smashing bad, it hurt. Thanks for v/c. ;-)
