The Lyrics

This shares a title with earlier works by Guy DeRito and Tim Mayfield (2003 and 2004 respectively). My take is literal...what if there were no letter 'L'? Soo...you might say I knocked the living 'L' out of this one! ;D

When I read my alphabet - something just didn't jive.
There are twenty-six letters - I saw twenty-five.
So I searched until I found - one was taken away.
There was just a blank space - 'tween the 'M' and the 'K'.
No 'L'! No 'L'! Where'd it go? Can't tell!
Twenty-five letters don't work quite as well.

Without 'L' we cannot "_augh" - and we never will "_ove".
We can never "_ook" up at - the "_ight" that's above.
We can't "_ock" our house up tight - when we "_eave" it each time,
And we never can taste - a fine "_emon" or "_ime".
No 'L'! No 'L'! It'd be hard to spell!
At least no one would get head "_ice" - that is swell.

Even though we'd miss the 'L' - here is this favored land,
Something tell me they wouldn't - miss it in Japan. (Rots of ruck!)
But within the English world - 'L' is part of our blood,
And without it we all - would sound like Elmer Fudd!
No 'L'! No 'L'! Much to sad to tell!
Without it our "_yrics" would just sound like hell!

Nor would the "_ion" "_ay" down with the "_amb"! ;D

No "L"? No "L"?, There is one "L" in the word "Noel".

What an oser. Actually, this joke goes back to 1954, when New York City closed down the 3rd Avenue Elevated Line, leaving the Borough of Manhattan with "No L." Fortunately, there's no need for the letter L to spell out the word form of the number five.
