The Lyrics
On January 22 2010, I posted a parody dealing with the (belated) paternity confession of former senator and presidential candidate John Edwards. Like the stories and legends of the past, the saga continues and grows. Here I use the same tune, for I see this as a continuation of the tale. Bunny Mellon is an heiress (and descendant of Secrertary of the Treasury Andrew Mellon, who served THREE consecutive Presidents) who contributed $750,000 to Edwards. Edwards claims that this was "not campaign contributions", perhaps citing the official pronouncement that our presence in Libya is "not war". I guess it REALLY depends on what the definition of the word "is" is. ;D
The tale goes on about Handsome John
And funds not used for campaigning,
For now the courts have him out of sorts.
His butt a grand jury's arraigning.
Clin-ton's line is now his call:
"I did wrong but I broke no law".
Once more see the mighty fall.
The demise of the lying John Edwards.
Amoral louse trashed his dying spouse,
He may now rank with the felons.
His patron Bunny kicked in hush money.
We know he's addicted to "Mellons".
He once was a shining knight,
The right wing scourge and the Dems delight.
Now watch as the courts indict
The resplendent defendant John Edwards.
If sent to jail, no fear for his tail
So he'll have cause to be giddy.
Elbows he'll rub in a country club
Like Nixon's men (all except Liddy!).
Press screams "This is way too hard!".
He can't play his class warfare card,
And he'll never be disbarred!
'Tis the luck of the lying John Edwards.
OK, the cheap-shot line about "Nixon's men" comes from a satire movie trailer "Prison Farm" which was used in National Lampoon's Radio Dinner. But...G. Gordon Liddy was the only high-ranking Watergate figure who did VERY hard time. ;D

Excellent...well deserved bashing..chose the right song to sub, too...has than mournful melody...not to imply sympathy for him..but for his late wife, and others he betrayed...fine lines and rhymes..

I ditto AFW & alvin, but suggest "He'll elbows rub" fits emphasis better.
Don't know much of the background story for this parody, so I appreciate the extra info in the header ;^) Nice slice-up of what sounds like a very corrupt business - witty, perfectly paced too. 555 for sure.
