The Lyrics

Christmas In July is well aware that the original song is actually an Advent hymn. Much has changed since the heady first two years of the Obama administration. Although nothing has changed in substance, I miss the vivid characters and devil-may-care attitude of that bygone era. It WAS a parodist's dream...fresh meat on the table every single day! Not that the "New Civility" (or even The Age Of Aquarius) has ever materialized. ;D

It's strange but I miss Rahm Emanuel.
His rants and thuggery served me quite well.
Without Dead Fish D.C.'s not the same.
New Chief of Staff Will Daley is too tame.
Come back! Talk smack - Rahmbo Emanuel.
It's way too hard to give Will Daley hell.

It's curious but I miss Robert Gibbs,
His snarky comments and his bare-faced fibs.
I'm cringing when I see in Bob's place
Jay Carney's clueless droning and blank face.
Bob's gone! We yawn! Of life there's not a sniff.
O. has replaced his mouthpiece with a stiff.

Forgive me but I almost miss Van Jones.
He'd get the marrow crawling in my bones.
"Green Czar" - no 'green jobs" did he create.
He just spewed words of class and racial hate.
Ah Van! Da Man! He's had his glory day.
He said the things Obama could not say.

And what is more I miss all of those "Czars",
Who ran all things like health care, jobs, and cars.
They're still in charge and running the shows.
So why are they in hiding? No one knows!
Big Stars! The "Czars"! O.'s new bureaucracy.
They don't need confirmation, no sirree!

It's difficult to write lyrics to 13th century plainsong. There is much melisma and little melodic or rhythmic consistency. I guess what I'm taking here is a...(drum roll)..."Gregorian Chance"! ;D

Ah, sweet melisma.

You write well. The only thing these people are good for is subjects for lampooning. Would the public be up in arms if they knew just how much they were spending to keep folks like us in parody material?

As always, a great job. Look for 555 in your stocking...

Although I lean toward the left, this is right good

Good work, OMR! The staff shake-up finally is "change we can believe in."
