The Lyrics

In honor of "Leon Day" ("Noel" spelled backwards), the halfway point to Christmas (June 25), I decided to put my own spin on "The First Noel" as a recap of the 1994 Brickyard 400, NASCAR's first trip to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The first Brickyard, nineteen ninety-four
Was a great race and a heck of a lot more
Rick Mast won Indy’s first NASCAR pole
And Jimmy Spencer couldn’t find a big enough hole
Jeff Gordon led, Jeff Gordon led
There was no doubt that he had the quick sled
Geoffrey Bodine sure had a good car
For the Hoosier squad, old Geoff sure was the star
But his mistakes sure weren’t too bright
Getting down to the end, he couldn’t keep up the fight
Jeff Gordon led, Jeff Gordon led
Once again, Jeffrey sure had the quick sled
Rusty, Ernie, and Brett – no doubt they were fast
But none of their tires would really last
Jeff was too good, no one had him beat
He got the fans up out of their seats
Jeff Gordon led, Jeff Gordon led
Car 24 was clearly the quick sled
Ernie Irvan made a furious charge
But in Ernie’s mirror, young Jeffrey loomed large
Then Ernie’s right front tire blew
With that little mishap, he knew he was screwed
Jeff Gordon led, Jeff Gordon led
There was no doubt Jeffrey had the quick sled
Brett Bodine ran in second place
But Pittsboro’s own would win himself in the race
The flagman showed the checkered flag
And when it came out, Jeff had it in the bag
Jeff Gordon won, Jeff Gordon won
The race went to Indiana’s native son
Three hundred thousand fans all cheered on
When the race was all said and done
The Indy ticket so highly sought
Was the best one that any Gordon fan had ever bought
Jeff Gordon won, Jeff Gordon won
The race belonged to Indy’s native son
Jeff Gordon won, Jeff Gordon win
The race belonged to Indy’s native son

Do you ever write about anything besides cars and racing? Reading this stuff is getting tedious.

I did write a semi-autobiographical parody called "Never Been to Maine" about the places I have (and haven't) visited in my 20 years of life. You should check that one out, it's really good. If you want to find eggnog now, good luck.

Your parodies have all the merit of long, run-on sentences. Why don't you get with the program and produce structured parodies of original lyrics as they are written instead of running all intros, verses, pre-choruses, choruses, bridges, hooks, outros and repeat to fades into a heaping mess with bad grammar and poor punctuation? Everyone else does it. Btw, ignorance isn't a style, son.
