Parody Song Title:

"We Are In Grave Danger"

Parody Written by:

William Tong

The Lyrics

Written in 1996, as Newt Gingrich and his freshmen Republicans schemed to try to make his Contract ON America come true.
We are in grave danger
Mere words can't be said
Republican victory went to their heads

With pie in the sky
Ambitions today
The freshmen Republicans want to make hay

The battle is brewing
What drama it makes
But do these Republicans have what it takes?

(Sung by Freshmen Republicans:)
"We'll follow you, Gingrich
Look down from on high
And lead us to victory!" is what they cry

"Please hear us, O Gingrich
We ask you to play
The role of our leader and Speaker," they say

"Curse all our opponents
Who say we're not fair,
And keep us in Congress to legislate there."
