Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Oh say can you see,
by the Iraq early light,
who so proudly we bombed,
with the victims still screaming,

who's unlimited greed,
killed Iraqis without need,
o'er the body parts we saw,
Iraqis were so tragically screaming,

& the bunker buster's red glare,
the smart bombs bursting in air,
gave proof to the muslim world,
that the great satan was still there.

oh say does that coward George Bush still rule,
o'er the land of the greedy, & the home of the cruel.

Holy cow, that's strongly worded... well written, Mike.

I usually agree with Phil Alexander's parody assessments, but Phil must have been in a hurry when he concluded that this one is "well written." The pacing is off in every verse and the rhyming is weak and forced (how difficult was it to rhyme "screaming" and "screaming"?). There was also a misspelled word (whose), incorrect punctuation (the last verse needs a ?, not a .), and weak research (not attributing the original to Francis Scott Key).

And, in response to the final question, no, George Bush is not in charge of the country that formerly had a greedy, cruel regime. But, with the help of some other nations, he made sure that Saddam Hussein will never rule there again.

Though I'm favouring the sentiment, I have to agree with John...this isn't a well written parody (for all the reasons John stated) and doesn't do the pro-Kerry side any favours. A bit too simplistic and aggressive for my tastes. Sorry...222

I too, had to dock you for pacing. But I agreed with your sentiments.

For talent, I can't regard this very highly. But if this is typical of your politics, keep 'em comin'!
