The Lyrics

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!!
From Kilkenny and Cork to the bars of New York
There is one thing you can guarantee
If you sit for a while, it's the Emerald Isle
Whose sweet voices will enrapture thee
As the Guinness runs freely, the blarney does too
And there's never a story too tall
Like the one about Shaun and the drunk leprechaun
And how God's from Donegal!

When Irish guys are drinking, and the craic* begins to flow
Every single bloke you're meeting went to high school with Bono
When Irish guys are lying, it is done with charm and wit
But you really must remember that it's all complete bulls**t!

"Did you hear the one 'bout Mick O'Shea and the trout?
It was seven foot long and one inch!"
And the tales leave their lips in between Guinness sips
And the thing is, they never once flinch
Then the whisky arrives, and their put-upon wives
Head on home 'cause they've given up hope
"Oi'll be home soon, m'dearonce oi've told this lad here
'Bout my darts match wi' the Pope"

When Irish guys are drinking, and the craic* begins to flow
Every single bloke you're meeting was Sinead O'Connors' beau
When Irish guys are lying, it is done with charm and wit
But you really must remember that it's all complete bulls**t!

* craic: Gaelic word for lively conversation, also generally means a good time...pronounced "crack"

Well, now we know where Johnny D got his "longshoreman" stories. But Polish eyes are smiling on this parody, and I'm green with envy. And what do you get when you cross a leprechaun with a Scarlet Knight? Notre Dame 66, Rutgers 0. (It actually happened, in November 1996.)

When Irish guys are angry, you'll know there'll be a fight, When Irish guys are cryin', you'll know the bar is closed for the night, When Irish guys are flirtin', it won't be with their spouse, And when Irish guys are smiling, you'll know the drinks are on the house!
