The Lyrics

A Passover favorite
An old Hebrew went riding on his camel one Spring day
Along the Nile he rested and I heard him sigh, "Oi vey ."
The Pharaoh’s out to murder us
By working us to death
This awful situation stinks-much worse than camel's breath.
Oi vey, oi vey.
Horseradish in your eye.

Now Moses went unto the king to plead our people's case
But Pharaoh laughed and then he told off Moses to his face
He said, "You will bow down to me,
And in my presence kneel.
On Christmas day we'll follow you
To find a Chinese meal."
Oi vey, oi vey.
Horseradish in your eye.

So Moses wandered day and night across the desert sand
He said, "Wherever is this God who spoke of promised land?"
But then he heard a booming voice that shook him to his toosh.
He cried but no one answered.
Cause he was talking to a bush.
Oi vey, oi vey.
Horseradish in your eye.

Now God send locusts, boils and frogs to scare the Pharaoh good.
Pharaoh cried, "Here comes the Jews-there goes the neighborhood."
He finally relented-sent the Hebrews out of reach
They trekked across the desert
To find Miami Beach.
Oi vey, oi vey.
Horseradish in your eye.

For forty years they staggered all around the desert brown.
The Pharaoh’s soldiers chased them but they all finally drowned.
The Hebrews bought up real estate
Along the Red Sea shore
The built hotels and condos
And cried forever more:
Oi vey, oi vey.
Horseradish in your eye.

In transferring the parody to this website, I failed to correct the third word in the 4th stanza--it should read "sent" rather than "send." The author

Thanks for the comments. Since I wrote this in 2002, it's been sung at the Passover table ever since--we hope to pass it on to others who might wish to incorporate it into their Passover seder meals. (For the uninitiated, the horseradish refers to an important condiment used in the Passover meal).
