The Lyrics

Like I did with Beethoven, this is words put to the exposition of the first movement of Mozart's Symphony # 40. If you listen to the work while singing, it makes sense. Once again, I used the score so though some notes/words overlap, the count is correct. Sorry about the lala's. You try to cram lyrics in at the speed of strings.
Symphony by Wolfgang Amedeus
In G-minor is Opus five-fifty
All the notes,(though too many) say "Play us!"
For today the effect is still nifty
It's a tune that leaps off pages
It'll be around for ages (be around for a-ages)

.............(that's why it's called classical music)

Classical! (Ages) Classical (Ages)
Classical, classical, classical

Symphony by Wolfgang Amedeus
Is a favorite among real musicians
It's a shame that the folks rarely pay us
For it seems we perform it for free...............

It's volunteer
Year after year
It's very clear
That money for the symphony
Just barely covers timpani
And most of us do it for show
And in the morning have to go
To work
At real jobs
For a jerk
How we're sick of working when we'd rather play this tune!

Therapy- is one damn good reason why we do it
Need to feel like we're a part of a team
(One that must co-opera-ate)
Therapy- for one loony bunch helps us get through it
Save us lots of money on psych-i-a-try
Psychiatry, psychiatry, psychiatry

Play a piece by
Old Wolfgang Amedeus
And you'll find some peace of mind
Very soothing to a lone performers' tortured soul

Symphony, minor G And we play it for free
Symphony, minor G And we play it for free
So please come out and see symphonys
When we're playing them for free (Repeat this part)

La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la
We play for free
La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la
For you and me, for you and me
For you and me, for you and me, for you and me, for you and me
For you and me, for you and me, for you and me, for you and me

Hear!
(Go back to beginning an repeat the exposition)

Knew I should have done this. Here's a midi file to sing along with http://www.kunstderfuge.com/mozart.htm

Hah! Turns out this is the tune played by an old, old alarm clock of mine that I've had since college (which was around the time Wolfgang was alive); shamefully I'd long forgotten which Symphony this was, so thanks for the reminder! Very nice job. There should be more of these on this site. Love co-opera-ate.
